  2. I agree with fenboy eley lightning 36 grms are one of the best you can buy
  3. Hi ya Robert I have used the 36grm RC and have had only 2 shells out of 25 do this, could be slow burn on the powder as they are only 1040 bar but they did eject ok and boy do they kill at good ranges.
  4. pro logic max 5 are a good idea but the body of the wader is unlined and runs with sweat if you have to walk far, if they were to line them they would really take some beating and the waterproof chest pocket zip is no good mine broke on second use.
  5. As a former shooting instructor we find that most people see lead diffrently what is 1 foot in front to some is 6 inches or even 2 foot to others, most targets are missed behind because your eyes are telling you you are in front of the target and your brain is saying stop you are to far in front and going to miss, it is very hard to miss a target in front, most shooters miss because they stop there swing. we teach shooters to shoot geese by treating the head like a driven partridge and not to look at the body ! not always easy ! ( basically just as Boyd said )
  6. We have found that wrapping sheep netting around the feeder is the only real deterant small holes at the bottom so pheasants can still come and go, I have 70 feeders wrapped and we saved 30% on our wheat bill last year.
  7. a good few thousand on the norfolk coast saturday morning

  13. DAVID basc said ( I am very sure that these few are not representative of wildfowlers) Do you want to bet David, I have been a member of WAGBI then and now basc for 44 years and I am a secretary of a long standing wildfowling club and our club is totally p***** off with the basc handling of this as Mark found out at our AGM
  14. If this is the standard of people working for the BASC we are in real **** ! best you all stock up on steel shot, Oh no don't worry they will defend the right to use lead shot and throw any amount of money at that one.
  15. David you should be listerning to the members who pay the wages of the BASC staff it's about time you lot grew a pair and man up !!! instead of getting in to bed with Natural England Bet you put up a better fight when the lead shot debate gets going, don't want to upset the landowners and gentry do you.
  16. I will second that anser2, you and I know how many pinks are shot on one marsh we both shoot on and it is far more than those figures !
  17. DAVID BASC SAID ( Firstly why its important to help preserve and redevelop key breeding grounds from on the continent for mallard and greylags? Well considering the majority of these birds we see in the UK come from overseas and winter on our shores... Secondly, why national bag returns from approximately 2/3 of wildfowling clubs in the UK are seen as incorrect, but he anecdotal individual evidence of half a dozen on here is seen to take precedent. Finally, if anyone on here does not think that crop and livestock protection from certain species is not high on a farmers agenda you are very much mistaken, how do I know this - well I am involved in high level meetings with farmers groups such as the NFU and FUW, and colleagues similarly with UFW and NFUS. David ) So why no mention of Brent geese being brought back on the list they cause vast amounts of damage to crops ! OH I FORGOT BASC WILL DO ANYTHING FOR A QUITE LIFE .
  18. Mine is not physical but mental, I now have reached that age that pulling the trigger dose not float my boat like it use to, I put it down to being spoiled on the Norfolk coast for the last 28 years. I always said that I would stop shooting geese when I hit the certain mark, well I have past that and more due to inland and coastal shooting and wildfowling just dose not have the same draw as It use to. Maybe one day I will get the bug again but at the moment I have lost that passion that once pulled me from my bed and drove my whole life and I feel the worse for it but I don't know a way back YET !
  19. 48% this season so far with the beaters day to go should be in low 50% by end of Saturday, not to bad for a wet mild season but I will be glad to see the end this year. we normally have a massive influx of birds in to the woods if we get a cold period as they are full of brambles and we straw and feed the rides very heavy but not this year the birds are all over the place.
  20. This topic reminds me of the a bloke in a gunsmiths winging about the effectivness of steel shot and how rubbish it was, no use at all was his words but he was not prepared to have 36 grams of number 3 fired at his landrover from 50 yards to see just how rubbish they were. I have used steel since the ban was introduced and kill as many birds now as before just have to adjust a bit with shot size. I load my own goose shells with 5mm steel and that will drop anything I wish to shot at on the foreshore. I am also a Keeper and make sure that the guns who shot on our estate use non-toxic for all wildfowl, but I am afraid that a lot of shoots don't ! so I think it is a case of when and not if we get banned from using lead, you will then see steel loads come on in leaps and bounds. When the ban came in for shooting wildfowl with lead it was the thin end of the wedge, all I am suprised at is it has taken this long before they got round to the rest of shooting Quote MultiQuote Edit Report
