  1. I will second Kennet on that, I have seen the state of him and his winchester when it comes off the marsh, I think he just rolls about in the mud for a few hours.
  2. the machines we have and use will pick up anything now a days, how do some people think we pick up laid barley that has been flattened by rain.
  3. Some of the best foreshore Goose shooting in the country until they started shooting the geese in land and growing less sugar beet, used to have 100,000 + pinks in the winter at Holkham.
  4. give the poults a couple of weeks and it will look like a desert in the pen, best ground critters you can get.
  5. As I said we agree to differ, move on.
  6. yer I have seen it done many years ago when there was not the pressure on pigeons or the amount of shooters as there is now, I had the luck to shoot with mr coates a few times and he put dead birds across the wind to provide movement on the feathers or blowing up the feathers and used garden canes to get movement like the modern day bouncer so yes I still stand with what I said Movement is the key to success his favoured trick was to throw dead birds out of the hide as I said at the start we have diffrent opinions on the subject.
  7. on that motty we will have to differ other wise no one would bother with whirleys, flappers, bouncers, spring sticks ect.
  8. It's all about movement in the pattern, watch a group of pigeons and they are always moving.
  9. I am in Suffolk & there are thousands of pigeons about and have been all winter but in large flocks, but now they are splitting up, I am out again tomorrow on the same field as the birds were still decoying when I had to leave, to the point of them landing as I was collecting in the decoys, a week makes a big difference, my mate reckons that there were 1500 on the field about 5.00pm when he took his dog out. oh and I use 5 lofters, 2 flappers, 2 whirlies, and about 10 shell decoys.
  10. Well today at last we managed to hit a good score on the rape 95 by the end of play, the flocks in our area have started to split with small groups willing to decoy, nothing showing on the drillings though.
  11. Why are we all so suprised pigs and troughs just pigs and troughs !!!!

I think some people never get over being bullied at school and have to make themselves feel important

Elphinlad you have sumed it up, don't question what KWCA or A.Jarrett do because as you say (Let me add my support to DNT and let me also declare an interest, as I am a KWCA committee member, a trustee of Wild Spaces Fund and company secretary of East Coast Sporting Ltd. I am also a solicitor so don't get legal with me unless you really know your stuff. you don't even like people to have an opinion if it is diffrent to yours.
  16. as a full time keeper my advice don't bother rearing, buy in poults it's a lot less frustrating and works out about the same in price by the time they are 8 weeks old.
  17. I just got my first 20 bore and love it !. I now wish I had one years ago, I cannot see the 12 bore coming out of the cabinet again so the browning could be up for sale soon.

I know that one of the large estates on the norfolk coast now flight the geese over decoys and that is the reason they do not settle on the estury roosts, the estate in question will deny this but at morning flight you can hear the geese getting shot at inland over estate fields and the keepers freely admit to it and I bet the guns are not using non toxic, just another way of making money for the very wealthy estates.
  21. two of us out there, we did not see another fowler though we did hear some shooting along the marsh, we thought it would be packed due to the lovely weather plenty of duck about on the tide.
  22. out the front on dawsmere creek using a dozen decoys.
  23. we had a excellent time on the wash this morning 6 widgeon,3 teal, 5 mallard. bloody cold though and windy, the pinks that came off were wide of us but on the deck.
  24. cannot fault mine we go salmon fishing up to hexham from Norfolk and can do it on £40.00 for a round trip, use to cost £100.00 in the Disco. can get all my carp gear in it and wildfowling gear and the seats are good enough to sleep in, I will buy another one when the time comes.
