  1. what I mean is it wouldn't matter who's papers you have as they would mean nothing! they are crosses so why not just advertise them as cross breds? "sprockers" no such dog, it's not the only case on the forum but call a spade a spade!

It would show that the parents have a pedigree from which the working lines can be traced.

Springer x springer, cocker x cocker, or springer x cocker, working lines means you have a better chance of turning out

pups that will work, as long as the owner is capable and willing to put the time in.

I have Sprockers and they work as well as any of the pure bred Springers and Cockers on the shoots that I 'keeper on.

  2. Therefore it would be adviseable for foxnet22 to do as he himself suggested, and check with his FEO, to see what the requirements are in his area.

I wouldn't have thought a plea of "I didn't know I couldn't shoot them because I didn't ask" would stand up too well.

  3. indeed James there are lots of .22 centrefires but 2 rimfires! .22lr and .22wmr not sure on your area but I'd just put down .22lr and HMR and write for vermin control, then not mention fox if you get vermin as a condition which you should then just shoot foxes sensibly

Not sure that is correct. Fairly certain 'fox' is a condition all of its own, and is not covered by the 'vermin' condition.

  4. indescriminately messing about with genetic mutations

I don't agree with you there Mike. My view is the Kennel Club and many of it's show breeders are causing more genetic mutations than

simply crossing a springer with a cocker.

All you have to do is look at the likes of the English Bulldog, Boxer, Daschund, and many more that have been inbred so tightly

that the poor ******* can't breath, walk etc etc.

  5. Over twenty odd years of reloading the biggest advantage IMO is the satisfaction of using ammo you made yourself.

I think this sums up reloading perfectly.

OK you may reload accurate and consistant rounds more cheaply, but the absolute 'grabber' for me is buying the raw components,

working up a good, consistantly accurate load, and knowing that I did it. ;)

I've been reloading for over 30 years now, and still enjoy the feeling.

  6. A professional stalker I know, is getting rid of his for another 308..

He says it's far to barky, and the recoil is just plain silly.

So he's getting shot of it!

I did exactly the same! Ran the .270 for two seasons and really didn't like it.

Chipped it in for a .260. Stops the beasts just as well, and doesn't loosen my fillings every time I pull the trigger.....

  7. Due to purchase of larger cabinet, I have for sale my Brattensound ST5 5 gun cabinet.

The cabinet has been attached to the wall for 3 months only, and is in 'As New' condition.

    Sizes - Height 1310mm, Width 270mm, Depth 250mm

Cost £140 when new, asking for £90 collected. (Or courier at purchasers cost)

  8. I haven't shot hares for years as the farmers that give me permission to shoot on their land like to see them around....

Unfortunately I have now been asked to shoot them on sight on two farms, even though the farmers like to see them around.

The reason??? Coursers!!! Driving around the land without permission, over crops etc etc doing far more damage than an army of hares would do. :good:

  9. This is beyond debate on this forum, nobody here knows the details other than the flimsy opening post and few if any are qualified to make any medical judgment anyway!

We get drunk, we get ****** off, we get depressed, we break the speed limit, and we get ill, etc, etc, at what point does somebody stick their nose in and **** up someones life even more! :good::good:

The voice of reason. Very well put.

  10. Due to new 'project' I am selling a couple of rifles. This is my Sako M591 rebarrelled to .260Rem with

    a Lothar Walther stainless barrel.

The rifle has done very little work (Less than 200 rounds) and is in excellent condition, with no dents or scratches.

The rifle will come complete with A-Tec sound moderator, bipod, and Sako Optiloc bases and 30mm rings

(Please note the Swarovski scope is not included).

It will also come with 100 Lapua cases, 50 of which are pre-loaded with Nosler 120gn BT's. (A very accurate load!)

All load data etc and drop sheet for this round can also be supplied.

This is a fantastic looking example of this Sako rifle and as we all know they are built to last.

My asking price for the package is £900 ono.

Please PM if interested or for more info.

  11. The most rigid position is definitely a tri-pod.

Use two sticks at least your own height joined at the top with a piece of inner tube or some such method.

Then get a length of half inch or more rope, I use an old kiddies skipping rope, at least three foot longer than your sticks, Splice a loop on each end.

Carry the sticks with both loops over the top of the sticks, when wanting to shoot, drop one loop and stand on it, brace your two sticks in the usual way and lean into your Triangle of two sticks and one rope - rock solid.

The rope can also be used as a drag rope for Deer and alsorts of other uses.

This is the method I use.

    Surprisingly effective. :oops::no:

  12. The country has been left in a mess and this is the start of getting it back on track. It is very necessary and everyone will have to dig deep and get on with it.

What they need to do now is stop handouts to people that have not contributed, of which there are many, and cut handouts to the freeloaders who refuse to even try to work.

  13. it does all the range i usually shoot at where as the .17 i was looking for longer range shots,

What a very good post :hmm:

I shot .22LR for many many years, when .17HMR was available I bought one and used it for 2 years.

Over the 2 years I ended up shooting the same amount of rabbits than I did with the .22LR, and it cost me a hell of a lot more,

so I sold the HMR and went back to the .22LR.

I have for many years found it very strange how people use the 'no field craft' argument when talking about long range shooting with centrefire rifles,

but seem to be OK with it when using HMR's so they can shoot rabbits at longer ranges...... :good:

  14. I thought you were a 'ladies beach volley ball ' man Browning :hmm: not that we have much in the midlands.

The nearest I will get to beach volley ball is helping out at the local 'duck race' on sunday (I did spell that right) :hmm:

In truth I will watch the final with a drink - any final is always good to watch ( then it's over) :hmm:

Beach Volleyball would have been at the top of my list PP, but Mrs Browning was looking over my shoulder at the time :hmm:

  15. The contrast is amazing, you must have one expensive camera!!

    Steve

Even the most expensive camera, with the most expensive lens doesn't mean you will get good photos.

It's all in the eye of the man behind the lens, and GG certainly has that eye.

    Well done GG. :w00t:

  16. Trying to get back on track for you Jack.....

I shoot 6mmBR with 75gn VMax as my 'Go To' foxing rig, pushing 3450fps and very accurate, and shoot in excess of 150 foxes a year with it.

Lapua brass, BR4 primers, N133 powder.

Under lamping conditions you are good out to 300 yards, under daylight conditions 600 yard corvids are achievable when you've put in the practice.

If you don't homeload then forget it, as the only decent ammo is target stuff (Norma do good quality 105gn).

Personally I prefer the 6mm over .224 as you get to use a heavier bullet that will buck the wind better. (I have owned and shot .223, .22-250 and .243 so have experience of all).

Off the shelf rifles in 6mmBR are limited, so you are probably looking at a custom/semi-custom rig. Mine is built on a Sako A2 action. <_<

If you want any more info feel free to PM me.

    Good luck with your choice.
