  1. dont forget to keep your range short-ish and maybe worth patterning a few to see how they group up.

what choke you planning to use .

i use the 56gr 3" magnum BB'S from gamebore , but have now ran out :o , anyone know if they still make them , the wads are red in colour and penetrate extremly well do more damage than the pellets :good:

  2. yep will be 6 in may ,time flys ,

he is/was a cracking dog , i did,nt realise how good till i compared him to others  in the shooting field and local trials.

    i,ve seen 4 vets and spent £1000+ , plus on-going Rimadyl tabs ,

the pain seems to be coming from his foot , if i touch his large pad or gently squeeze it he goes mad :drinks: its that sensertive , he as his leg held up constantly , he wont put his foot flat down at all but does sometimes take a little bit on his toes to steady himself .

he,s had loads of detailed x-rays of feet , shoulders , legs , neck and others for comparison .

there is NO heat or indication of foreign object , he,s had loads of rest in the hope it would improve .

in the new year i will phone the vet again to ask about amputation  .

Dan do dogs have a crucial ligament on there front legs

  3. my other dog is a bitch collie 10 years old and brill.

recently she as started to scratch her self and finally as took to biting and pulling her fur causeing a few patches and scabs etc  .

at first i suspected a parasite ie flea or lice :good: , maybe bought in by my lab , who as been in and out of the vets a lot recently.

SO i,ve wormed them both with Drontal XL , and gave them a double dose de-flea of spot on ( vet grade ) from manor pharmacy.

that was nearly 2 weeks ago and shes still scratching .

what can be the cause of this scratching etc :good: , any ideas please

i,m getting desperate i,ve even given her a few doses of piroton just incase its an allergy .

    any advice welcomed

    thanks

  4. hiya mate -- well one of the vets was a ortho specialist who has treated a lot of lame labs , he took more detailed x-rays of the leg ,shoulder , back and neck but found nothing .

the pain is defo in his foot as soon as you touch it, he yelps and starts licking it , the vet recons the problem may be higher up and maybe a nerve problem but i think he says this because he cant find the prob .

he wont extend is foot at all and i suspected ligament at first , but the vet said that there would be other clues if it was ( dont know what he means though )

he has lost a lot of muscle tone in the leg and shoulder and holds is shoulder kinda dropped with his foot curled under like he cant put pressure on his pad/foot.

the vet said its really strange and as never come across this before in 30 years and even if i could afford an MRI it may not find the problem and if it did it may not be fixable ( his words )

prior to this he was an excellent working dog , which if you remember Dan you helped me train him via this site , remember the choke collar you sent me , it worked briliant and he his or was the best all round gun dog i,ve ever had  .

he's nearly 6 now just seems so unfair ???

tried resting him gets no better , and if i take him on short 100 to 200 yard walks to the end of the avenue just to keep him sane he's limping and panting like made .

mate if you have any suggestions or clues , i will definately consider them .

    thanks

    Darren

  5. just bought a mossberg 500a pump action multi-choke , just for a bit of fun .

it came with a skeet choke , but i would like to add a half / mod choke to it .

question -- will any other make / type choke fit this gun .

    thanks

  6. Thanks Kay - i really did love that little stinker , she had such a personality B)

any ideas on the little jill with the bluish tinge to her skin , ever come across anything like that .

maybe its her new coat coming through !!!!! she did loose a bit of fur when in season . cant really tell.

shes active and eating well and if anything getting a bit fat :yp:

    thanks

  7. hi all -- unfortunatly my jill died , started to pick up slightly then went down hill very fast .

when she died she looked kinda yellow , so i,m guessing liver failure , poor girl .

i buried her amongst the rabbit warrens in the paddocks at the stables where we first met .

my other jill , her daughter is doing ok as far as i can tell , BUT i have noticed her coat or skin is looking a bit blue-ish in colour :yp: anyone think of a reason for this .

    thanks again

  8. hi lads and Kay -- thanks for your advice ,

i was at the vets first thing , they gave her the jab and checked her over ie. feeling for lumps , everything seemed ok except she was tender around the ovaries ( which was to be expected the vet said ).

so she as a good chance of pulling through , then i,m going to get her spayed.

anyone know how long the jab takes to bring them out of season ??

would a bit of liver be ok ie she as aniemia but thinking the iron may be good for her ?? yes/no

good to see you again Kay i,ve not been on hunting .life for ages

  9. cheers mark -- that looks like it damn!!!!

she as been and still is in season , this must be the cause .

hope its not too late for her , wonder if i got her a jill jab first thing in the morning she would pull through.

poor gal i should of known , kids handle them every day , but i dont see them much because of work .

is there any thing i can do for her right NOW ?

  10. normaly my polecat jill is very healthly , but this last night and today she looks unwell , just got her out and she is very lethargic and she's pale looking IE. her pink bits , pads , inner ears , nose , mouth are usually pink but at the mo there almost white .

what could be wrong with her .

    thanks

  11. great gun , highly recommened

mines the 400s , comes with the walnut stock and moderator, handles great and makes clean kills at 40 yards no probs.

will also paper punch very well out to 50 plus yards on our club range .

one thing i would recommed is to get it over a chrono after a 100/200 shots , they can go up and down on power ( down to spring quality ) my first one dropped from 12+ftlb down to 9ftlb after 200 shots , but the one i have know is spot on ... and its had several 1000,s through it
