  1. Thanks Bruno and Chris......I had misconceptions on PCP in the fact that they required filling everytime.....doh, that's me corrected and it that case will now look at PCP's, I'm assuming PCP's being the way to go as that's what everybody seems to rave about over break barrell and lever action etc. Ant has offred me a good set up of a Rapid 7 and quick charge botlle etc for £500 which I'm seriously considering, but also looking at Airwolf aswell...hmmmmm decissions decissions....... I live in Carterton, where abouts is MK shooting club based, maybe I'll have a wonder over this sunday. I haven't got any barn shooting yet, it's a mare trying to find an amiable farmer to allow me to do any shooting at all.......
  2. I know HDAV , it's just Berretta, I love them..lol....I bought a Second Hand 682 Golden E, and to be honest shoot so well with it, I don;'t think I'll ever get rid of it, then I bought a Berretta A300 Outlander for my field pursuits, and was more than content with that, then Berretta just had go and re-launch the 682 under the guise og the new 692...I had a go and loved that, so as a treat to myself, I went and purchased it, with 32" barrells and spent my first weekend just gone with it...had a lesson aswell at The Oxord Shooting School....did very well....Only problem now is I'm mixing 30" 682 and 32" 692, but I'm coping well... Thanks all for the oiling advice, and HDAV, I'll cut down on the drilling...
  3. Thanks Browning, I'm using Napier Cleaning sparay and then Napier Gun Oil afterwards.
  4. Fix to an outside external wall, chances are the plasterboard on the external wall is dot and dabbed. Get a 20mm bit from any hardware store, your local Homebase or B and Q probably won't carry them, you'll likely need a Builders Centre, HSS or Screwfix something along those lines, and use 75mm rawl bolts, thats what I did. The bolts although mighty large, grip into the blocks very well. I suspect the blocks are thermalite or plasmor if a new house, so hence the neccessity for the larger fixing as the smaller ones just pull out due to the blocks being light and aerated. I see above some say fix to the floor, somebody has already said watch you don't puncture the DPM, quite correct as this will void your NHBC gurantee, also, if yours is a new house, I suspect you may have under floor heating, if so, stay well away from floor fixing, if you punture the underfloor heating, you definitely are ******!!
  5. I'm a newbie, only been shooting since last November, but I take the barrells off, phosphur bronze brush the inside, spray cleaner down the barrells, wipe them out with a clean cloth and kitchen towel wipe the action. I also take the chokes out and wipe them down thorougly then lightly oil them when putting back to make sure they easily go in and out. Put it all back togetehr again and use a light duster to wipe the barrells and stocks downexternally and place back in the cabinet for the next week. I do this everytime I use the guns and like Danobi says above, only takes 10 mins! End of every month I attach the cleaning rod to a cordless drill and use that down the barrells on all 3 of my guns.......They all look great...... Hamster, I'm a new father too, well, she's almost 2 now and go out tow ork from 06:30 to 19:00, but the weekend when i go shooting, I clean as soon as I get in and it's a;; done in 10 mins and out of the way to get on with the household chores...lol.... Can I just ask though, I have the proper gun oil aswell, are you supposed to spray this on the outer side of the barrells and action, or just the inside? I only do the inide and wipe all outside down with a dry clean cloth.
  6. Hey all, Thanks for all the feed back to my previous questions. All very helpful and I will follow up on it. In fact, the reason for this question is as a result of a suggestion to start farmyard and barn and stable rat shooting that will hopefully lead to some land permission for rabbits and pigeons. So, knowing not much about airifles as I mainly shoot Semi's and O/U 12g shotguns, can you suggest good suitable air rifles to shoot farmyards and barns etc. I don't really want to have to charge the bottle, so a lever action or something would be preferred, but with a magazine as i don't want to be breaking the barrell after every shot. Thanks
  7. Read most of the gun review magazines, they all say the same, the Hatsan only like's 3" cartridges and seems to perform best on these. However, my Hatsan jammed with 2.5 and 3's but more with 2.5's!! The writings on the wall, ignore it at your peril!!
  8. I had exactly the same problems with regards to the ejector jammimg, needed two pairs of hands, one to hold ejector and feed slide open and one to slide cartridge back into chamber.....Brought mine new, and it jammed straight away....got rid of it after only firing it about 40 times and bought a Beretta A300 instead, best descision I made!!
  9. Hi Guys, I recently joined, (2 days ago), and this looks a really good site, full of people with great ideas and suggestions!! I am new to shooting, started in November 13, but already have the major bug. I am struggling to get landowners permission to pigeon and rabbit shoot in and around Oxfordshire. I have followed all the advice about dressing up in proper shooting attire, shirt, tie, jumper coat, boots etc, ask nicely, offer services in return etc etc, but constantly am declined. Does anybody know anybody in or around Oxfordhsire I can get in touch with? I hold the relevant shotgun certificate, am CPSA registered so am insured and I am police checked, I even have a CRB check through work!! I notice you advise to keep asking and don't take no for an answer, but worried if I'm overly tenacious or dogmatic, will this not get me a bad reputation as I'm sure local farmers all talk!! Thanks for any help.

  11. Definitely not the Hatsan, I had that and it dosen't like the 2.5" cartridges, it kept jamming and then blocking the ejector, so unles you had somebody with an extra pair of hands and something pointy to slide up the ejector and push the cartridge back into the chamber whilst the otehr person held open the feed slide, I'd stay away from it!! I immediately traded it in for a Beretta A300 Outlander, and I ma delighted with it!!
