  1. Hello If you are unlucky with your search for an 88 then drop me a pm if you would consider an older model. I have a 12g Mossberg 600 Newhaven with a clect, spare stock and a sidesaddle which is not being used. N.

  4. Hello Selling a couple of parts. Shotgun pistol grip stock Taking off a 500 Mossberg but ? looks like an aftermarket part and may/would fit something else ? Remington 870 ? Don't know , just don't like it so I am changing it for a standard stock. 8/10 Black plastic with long stock bolt and butt pad, marked as Speedfeed. Will not fit other Mossberg slide action shotguns, the 88 is compatible with some 500 series but not this part. (molded unit) £15 posted Cash, Cheques, Paypal (but not as GIFT) Open to sensible offers if they don't sell by payday. i work odd hours so leave me a message and I will get back to you.
  5. Cheers for that, may end up going down that route, taking a pistol grip stock off and putting on an original.
  6. Hello Anyone got a Mossberg bolt for attaching the stock to the receiver? I think it is 5.5 inches long and 5/16. Cheers N.
  7. UKpsa do a 2 day safety course that is really good, look on their website for details. If you don't have a S1 then they can usually loan a semi auto section 2 shotgun, you need a cartridge belt and a slab of cartridges (I used 7.5 28g). Find a local club and see what other people use before spending loads of dosh. North Coates in Grimsby is good if you are up north.
  8. Hello I have some sloe gin and sloe vodka due to be filtered in a couple of weeks, I usually reuse the boozy sloes with sherry but I heard about using them for sloe Whisky. Anyone do this, and if so do you add anything else - more sugar, cloves /cinnamon stick?. Thanks in advance. N.
  9. Hi, anyone got a black synthetic stock for a Mossberg 500 going cheap? Just asking around before I approach the person you are all going to recommend. Cheers N.
  10. Hello Many apologies to PW for my language. This not a joke, simply a question as stated in the title about a gunsmith re crowning and shortening a barrel to open up the choke. The idea of posting on the forum was so that suggestions, ideas and views on this particular issue could be be exchanged. N.
  11. Hi. Having difficulty hitting a cows **** with a cricket bat at the moment. I am right in thinking that cutting the end of a fixed choke and removing the choked section will make the new barrel a wider choke ie: full choke to cylinder? Also has anyone had a gunsmith do this and a rough idea of cost? This would seem a cheaper option than having chokes fitted? Cheers N.
  12. Hello got my hands on a basic Manufrance Pump action 12g. Can't find a manual or information online, anyone had / got one and can tell me about it? "Acier Special" is stamped on it but I think this may relate to the metal rather than the model, possibly a Rapid ? Cheers. N.
  13. "Just off with a load of cash to visit someone I've met on the internet" Despite my instructor telling me that pump action shotguns are only for poor people and bank robbers I was looking for a cheap pump action 12g and managed to score 8 out if ten on my last purchase. Not a bad morning, always feel a little worried that I am visiting an unfamiliar area with cash but have always been ok, in the past I had a possible scary moment when 4 blokes in a transit turned up to meet me in a deserted car park one morning but they turned out to be genuine and on route to a construction job when I was selling a Ratcatcher. My score system is: 1 point for within 45 min drive to view.(Prefer face to face) 2 points for item matching description not a rusty pile of **** or having driven to a shop , been told "Just sold it mate" 1 point for buying from a home and not a badly lit car park / lay by. 1 point for offer of cup of tea/ coffee/ au pair (you never know) 1 point for friendly chat about guns history. 1 point for being worth more than I am paying.(Did point this out at the time but he just wanted to get rid and have cabinet space). 1 point for not stabbing me, mugging me and running off with my hand full of fivers. Anyone else have a positive / negative shopping day? 10/10 would be cartridges/ extra chokes/ shiny things or a gun slip chucked in with purchase and offer of a meet at a clay ground to try gun out with a bacon sandwich.
  14. Hello, This is my gun that I am selling to make space for a pump action, would px if you have anything in the lower price bracket..... N.
  15. Hello. First step is the UKPSA safety course, I spent 2 days near Grimsby with some guys from North Cotes Butts. Prone/Kneeling/Weak shoulder/firing round cover etc - cost about £80 and a slab of 28g.(used a 2+1 semi auto and a cheap cartridge belt)) Passing the course means you can enter competitions and you also get to meet others who are like minded. Also look for Sycamore club (Sheffield) and Rossendale on FB. If you join the clubs they will help you with the wording for your application for a S1 shotgun Licence. ie: The shotguns to which this certificate relates may be used in recognised practical target shooting disciplines, as a member of a relevant club or recognised association and where the holder has permission to shoot with that class of firearm. The 12 gauge solid slug ammunition to which this certificate relates shall be used only on ranges in respect of which a range safety certificate specifically authorises use of same or on other land over which the holder has permission to shoot with that class of firearm and ammunition type.
  16. Looking for a cheap pump action, true the semi auto has never jammed on me but it is long recoil - like a pogo stick.
  17. Hi, Having little money now the season of buying stuff that people don't need for people you don't like approaches I thought I had a good deal where I got an older pump action Multichoke in px for my £75 Italian semi auto A5 copy but, the guy took a cash deal instead leaving me grumpy and looking around for a plan B. Once I get shot of my Franchi , my slightly pathetic budget is £200 which means i can have a Hatsan or an older Mossberg. This should be a no brainer in favour of the Mossberg but Hatsan seems to have ironed out the problems it had with earlier models, I'm not concerned about Brand names just reliability. Any thoughts.... (Getting shot of my Franchi is not a euphemism)
  18. Hello My plan to make sloe vodka is as follows: wash hands, remove blackthorns and apply bandages. Sterilise kilner jar in oven - 190 degrees for about 20 mins. Allow to cool and add sloes that have defrosted and been smacked about with rolling pin but not pricked. Add equal sugar to sloe weight. Top up with SWMBO's vodka Add some vanilla (?) not sure about this bit. Shake every couple of days till sugar dissolved. After 3 moths decant and filter. Then leave till Christmas in the dry dark wardrobe. Does this sound like a plan?, first time and would welcome advice...... N.
  19. Hi, Looking through a popular social media website showing pictures of cats, thoughtful motivational memes and staged pics (showing that their life is better than yours) when up pops another UK petition for the return of handguns for FAC owners in the UK. At 100,000 signatures, this petition will be considered for debate in Parliament. Took a look and at the bottom was a line about for home defence -Parliament will then look at the petition and say "Nah". However. If the Birmingham gun quarter was a large industry and was selling uk made handguns worldwide ( can't think of a company today like Webley, Adams or Enfield still making British handguns - but I could be wrong) it might be a different story. But since British Small Arms is reduced to selling air guns it seems unlikley. If all the UK shooters signed up together. If all the UK shooting organisations got together. If it was realistic - If it were a petition to allow the return of .22 rimfire target pistols then I would consider signing but a handful of people suggesting handguns for self defence is in my opinion a non starter. N.
  20. Hello. Daydreaming about a section 2 shotgun for starting PSG. Picture the scene,1984, watching badly subtitled Italian VHS called "Blastfighter", the only film I have seen where the gun, a Franchi Special Purpose Automatic Shotgun, was more of a star than the actors (except Stallone in Judge Dead maybe) but I digress. Looking for suggestions for a starter Practical Shotgun - pump action 12g in Yorkshire area. The Mossberg pump I was looking at sold and the The SPAS 12 I once coveted is too heavy and at a grand is way too expensive. Anyone started section 2 PSG with a Revo or similar and what advice do you have? Cheers N.
