It's all down to the water flow through the pipe. Low flow and the water has more time to absorb more copper, and in time can get way past the legal limit. Domestic flow is usually high enough not to cause a problem. However it might be a good idea to flush your drinking water after long periods of no demand. Now talking of toxic heavy metals, what about tungsten, nasty stuff, carcinogenic etc. Perhaps not to Duck, but to the shooter??? What about plastic wads, I'm old enough to remember the first plastic wads and the manufacturers feeding them to live stock apparently without ill effect. Is this shooting's death by a thousand cuts? My 66 clipped out CB450 Honda bought as a write off in 67 was a belter, I hate to think how many times I threw it down the road. My old Mk3 Commando over 200k and still going strong has to be the best ever for me. Grief, like Road Rocket I'm showing my age. Dave

Simply, the low ratio transfer box allows you to use less torque at low engine rpm and keep the wheels turning slowly without having to slip the clutch to get out of low grip conditions. You can use the higher engine rpm to put more torque into the wheels to climb steep inclines etc. However, with experience you'll know when and what gear/rpm to use to get out of most situations. Care must be taken as with some big 4x4s especially when changing gear in low range, too much torque to the wheels at the wrong time and you could break a half shaft. The Jimny's transfer box is chain driven and if you use the low range 4WD too often on ground with good gip you'll stretch the chain. The result is a machine gun rattle when pulling hard.
