  1. I’ve just bought an escort with the same valve as yours and that doesn’t have an o ring, I found one that fitted and put in the same place as my other escort and it must have changed the head space as it wouldn’t even mark the primers with the ring in, took the ring out and oiled everything up and it seems to be fine!
  2. Do you happen to know what size they are?
  3. Hi guys, I’ve recently bought a Hatsan Escort 8 shot, a cheap auction purpose. I’ve just taken it apart to clean before using it and noticed that it doesn’t have this o ring on the gas system that everyone talks about? Is there a mk of escort with no ring or am I missing parts? It seems to cycle 32g cartridges but will not cycle 28g cartridges
  4. I’m assuming that tinning is the same as when joining wires together? I.e applying a thing layer of solder to the rib and barrels before soldering them together?
  5. I just so happen to have a blaster in the garage haha! Thanks
  6. That’s reasonable enough, I’ll hang onto to it while I save up then I should have a nice addition to the man cave haha
  7. Thanks gunman, i had no intention of using the oxy gear, it was just to show I have dealt with similar things and I’m familiar with metal work. I’d figured that getting it all clean enough would be a bit of a pig, but as usual I’m guessing it’s just a case of time and patience to do a decent job. It is the last 2-3 inches of the muzzle end that’s came loose which is why I feel able to attempt this, I’d never attempt to do a full rib. Should I hit any issues would I be able to drop you a message for advice? Thanks
  8. I’ve already had a quote from a local Smith of £400. the gun Is a jabali.
  9. How’s that exactly? A gunsmith would go through the same process and not render it out of proof?
  10. Fair point, I think seeing as the gun is basically scrap anyway I’ll have a go and if it takes silly heat to loosen the rib then I’ll admit defeat, however if it is just solder then that should start giving way well before the barrels get anywhere near hot enough to effect them. Im confident enough that if I can lift the rib and take it back about 6” (only the last 2-3” is loose) I’ll be able to get a good enough clean and enough penetration with the solder to get a solid hold. Ill give it a go and see how it goes. Worst case is the gun gets scrapped which is its current fate.
  11. Evening all, I’ve got an old Spanish side lock sbs, a really nice gun but not worth much over £200, that has a loose top rib. Obviously a smith repair is uneconomical. I have found the following video which has tempted me to have a go over the winter at fixing this myself. https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.wideopenspaces.com/relay-detatched-rib-side-side-shotgun/amp/ I already have all of the equipment and I’m qualified I’m brazing with oxy acetaline, so I feel like I stand a good chance? Has anybody else attempted this? I understand it’ll need reblueing but again, I’m tempted to try this myself to resurrect an old family gun that would realistically be scrapped otherwise Thanks jamie
  12. It’s a double hammer Lefaucheux type gun, I only paid £39 from auction unseen, I knew the risks and unfortunately I lost this time! The barrels are really badly pitted which is leading me down this route. However I now think I may just hand it in to be scrapped. thanks jamie
  13. Thanks, I wasn’t sure if it all had to be done via the proof house or not. Do you know what the usual price would be?
  14. Hello, I’m looking at getting a shotgun deactivated, I know about the certification etc. My question is, do I give it to a local Smith to deactivate and send away for certification or does the proof house do all the work? Thanks
  15. That’s all the information I have gunman, it looks tidy enough in the pictures and the price is very reasonable so I might just have a punt on it as a piece for interest haha. If I win I’ll post more pics and details ASAP. Cheers
  16. Evening guys, one of the above guns has came up at auction. Its a 16g hammer gun on a back action. Has anyone had any experience of this action type? It looks interesting and I may be tempted to place a bid. Cheers, Jamie
  17. Any thoughts on the trigger?
  18. Having put 100 rounds through the rifle I’ve decided the best improvement I can make for the accuracy is to adjust the trigger. After some research it appears that I can either buy a spring kit for around £12-13 or some people are saying use a biro spring? Has anyone tried that as obviously if that works I’d rather not spend the money haha! Although if it doesn’t work then £13 isn’t a lot to spend either way. Thoughts appreciated!
  19. I’m having big debates on shortening it now! I had it out in the fields earlier just having a play and it was grouping under 1 inch at 50 yards from prone unsupported with the iron sights! I’d forgotten how much fun it could be playing with iron sights and the extra concentration needed to be accurate!
  20. Cheers fellas! Looks like it was one of my better impulse buys haha! Whats the opinion on barrel shortening? Does it affect accuracy etc? Ive heard that these barrels are choked?
  21. Hi guys, I picked a Brno mod 2 up today on a bit of a whim, cheap price for the rifle, scope and a moderator. It’s still got its iron sights and original 25” barrel, and overall in good condition. Whats people opinions on the Brno with regards to quality and accuracy plus ammunition recommendations. Thanks jamie
  22. As regards to the bergara, I wouldn’t call it a cheap clone, it’s a far better rifle in all area, smoother action, great trigger and match quality barely all as standard and for about £700, mine in .243 absolutely outclasses anything my mates have and at the range will outshoot pretty much everything bar full blown f class rifles
  23. I’ve spoken to my union rep, and emailed our HR department, I’m not on apprentice wage as I worked for the company prior to getting the apprenticeship and retained my old wage so I am paying tax. When I get some replies I’ll let you all know J
  24. With regards to place of work my contract says this “4.1. Your place of employment shall be at *newcastle* [or such other places as the organisation may require]” ive substitutes Newcastle for my depot name just for privacy, have they covered themselves with the other such places statement?
