  1. I think there are two shoots near Penistone on a Sunday, but I'm still trying to dig out some details...Who I need to contact etc, regular meeting times. The first one I know if as I hear them shooting near Wentworth Park, Penistone is as you come down from Hoylandswaine Roundabout to Penistone, there's a field on the left hand side that the shooters park their cars in, but where they go from there I'm not sure (this is on the A628 heading towards Manchester - if you go under the railway bridge into Penistone you've gone too far). The other one is a the top of Cubley, on what I think is Hartcliff Hill Road. If you go through the centre of Penistone, past the shops, then up passed Cubley hall eventually you will come to some Cross roads. Turn right at the cross roads and follow this road, you'll pass an egg farm, down and up the other side of the dip, then there's a gate on a field on the left...but I don't know for sure when they meet, or who you'd need to contact...I'm hoping to drop in on either when I have spare time!

    Extending WiFi

Just another suggestion...you can get a point to point wireless bridge which I think would do the trick. You can pick them up starting at around £125 depending on model/brand/etc...Some offer 100mbs full duplex which I'm sure would meet your needs. Basically you plug an ethernet cable from your router into one of the bridges, affix it to a wall, then on your annex you'd attach the receive bridge, and then route the cable from the receive bridge into a wireless access point or switch in your annex. These will work up to 2km so distance shouldnt be an issue, and I'm pretty sure that the software they come with has signal indicator so that you can tweak the position of the bridges accordingly so that they are aligned.
  4. I'm not sure if it's been mentioned already but a friend has a stocks ISA, seem to remember him saying you can split your investment over low, medium and high risk.
  5. I regularly use MyProtien...only ever order Whey, Creatine, Glutamine and BCAAs (all as powders). The bars and cookies are great as snacks...but I've taken to making my own! As I'm sure other people have told you diet is key...I'll openly admit that I'm no expert in that I'm not a qualified PT or nutritionist (going to the gym is a daily hobby for me!), but I'd be more than happy to help and offload some of my knowledge if you want to DM me with what your goals are!
  6. I've a GoPro Hero 3 Black...I use it for Scuba diving and skiing mainly, but I'm trying to think of some other ways I can use it more often because to be honest it does sit gathering dust often! My boss bought a sportscamera - a GoPro equivalent online for £30 to mess about with and it does capture great pictures and videos - I havent sat down and looked at the differences between the two (spec or picture/video quality), but I have seen the videos and they are very good for £30. Not sure whether it's just my PC (pretty well spec'd I'd say) but my desktop struggles to playback my 1080 60fps footage from my GoPro which narks me a bit because I can't bring together a load of clips to make a 'holiday' style film for me to share among friends - so it's resulted in me contemplating buying a Mac to edit!!

    Shoes

I was treated to a pair of Barkers (Mcleans) from my other half for Christmas last year...first decent pair of shoes I've ever owned. I originally tried on the Woody - and loved those too. So ended up getting them in both black and tan! Best move I've made as I wear the black ones everyday for work. A wise man once told me two things worth spending money on - a bed and pair of shoes. If you're not in one your in the other!
  8. I'd also recommend OpenOffice....been a while since I've used it but it was very 'Microsoft Office' style when I did use it - so useful if your familiar with the Office environment,
  9. Cheers - Typical, just looked at the weather and forecast to bang it down Saturday afternoon!!
  10. Is there any plans to open up the shoot earlier than 2pm on a Saturday do you know DM?
  11. Hi - I don't think its Sycamore as that is more toward Bolsterstone, this one is literally at the top of Cubley (nr Penistone).
  12. If I'm up early enough Sunday I'll have a run up and let you know.
  13. I've drove past it a few times and seen it but never called in! If I remember right its on the ridge between Cubley and Langset isn't it? I don't live too far away from there so trying to find out who runs it.
  14. Just seen this Nige! I'll called around at about 4.30 Saturday afternoon but the shutters had dropped! I'll try again Friday lunch hopefully!
  15. Thanks Danger-Mouse. I've had a look through the thread...I don't think it is the one I was thinking of according to Nigel's directions (down Hoylandswaine Hill, red gate on the left before the train bridge) but it is certainly one for me to try at some stage. I'm from Penistone so it's within walking distance - I often hear guns going off on a Sunday morning but always thought it were a couple of farms on the A628! Need to get a gun first though, dropped in at Browns in Sheffield the other day, couple of guys in there were spot on in helping me. Thinking of having a look at Mapplewell Fieldsports & Shooters World this weekend, time permitting!
  16. Hi guys! I'm from South Yorks...and I was driving back from Manchester the other week on a Sunday morning. I was coming back over through Penistone and saw what looked to be a Sunday Morning clay shoot but I've not been able to find any details of it. I've just had a look on Google Maps and it looks like it's on one of these roads: Hartcliffe Hill Rd, Mossley Rd or Cranberry Road - Cubley. Anyone ever been up there? I keep meaning to have a drive past but not had chance yet! Cheers.
  17. Is the Spa open? On their website it says it's coming October 2015? I'd love to go but the Thursday & Friday we want to go they're booked up the Friday evening! Certainly one to keep an eye out on though!!
  18. Thanks - I will keep it in mind for future but we're after a break in the UK this time - might be handy for next year though! - Thats why I want to go somewhere I can leave her and I can go off and do my own thing!! I've looked at this and it looks just like what we're after, only thing is it's fully booked the week we have off !
  19. So - I have a few days of work coming and me and the other half are looking for a few days away in the UK somewhere. Anybody got any ideas? I'm hoping to find a place where she can go in the Spa for a day and I can have a day clay shooting somewhere local whilst she's getting her nails done or what have you! Cheers!
  20. Evening all....thanks for the help/heads up on what to go for....I guess my next step is to go down to the local dealers and see how I get on!!
  21. Thanks for the welcome Bosher....I doubt I'd be doing any wildfowling at this stage, I'd probably stick to what (little) I know now! Thanks for the invite too but I'm in Barnsley unfortunately!
  22. Thank you all for your I'm put! Got a few dealers I'm going to venture out to at some point so no doubt il be sure to let you know how I get on!
  23. Hi Oliver.... To be honest I hadn't gave too much of a consideration on what type of shot I would be shooting! Ive a pdf my friend recommended that I've to read....will it explain the differences in steel to led shot there..... Sorry!
  24. Thanks for the friendly welcome! Cool so if I'm reading and understanding you correctly I can get a 2 and 3/4 and that will be fine for pest & clays. Would this still be OK if I were to go on a game shoot?
  25. Evening all.... I'm a new member to the forum (although I have been browsing the site for a good few months!) so please excuse me if this isn't the correct area to post my question. Got into clay shooting with a good friend of mine. He's dad owns a farm so he has a 12g OU for pest control more than anything. I think it's a Miroku but not sure what model. I'm after getting my first shotgun...I want to use it for clay and also pest control- what chamber size should I go for? Sorry if this is answered/explained elsewhere....I have used the search function but not had much luck finding an article which may answer my question. Thanks
