  1. I agree , almost all the threads I see that descend into chaos / slanging matches etc are in off topic . It could be argued there should be no off topic . The shooting pages I am a member of on facebook are just that , they rarely if ever have any one asking for the latest knitting pattern etc , etc , etc.
  2. What gundog breeds shed the least hair ? I would like a dog but the wife is not keen on the idea as she does not want dog hair everywhere . Do dogs like short haired pointers , vizlas etc shed much ??
  3. 9s are generally used for closer targets such as skeet.
  4. I have not been on here long but can't help but notice you are very much into you war and peace length posts , this is generally when you are trying to prove you are right and everyone else is wrong ,. I am going to guess that like me you have very limited real experience but think by coming up with such drawn out posts people will think you are the font of all knowledge . You can pretend all you like you can write as much as you like but throttling (for that is what it is ) is not nor ever will be l suitable way to dispatch a injured bird or animal. Now clearly you will have to have the final say as you do seem the type that likes the sound of his own voice so I will now bow out and let you have such.
  5. No I have not tried it and have no wish too , I shoot because I enjoy it as a sport rather than enjoy the killing , with the advice you give i can't help but think you enjoy the killing a little too much as you seem to want to prolong suffering rather than end it I would question if such a person should have a gun.
  6. I don't pretend to be overly experienced but I cannot believe the advice given from neutron619 I very much doubt you could make a mouse unconscious in two or three seconds let alone a pigeon or goose as for strangling it for another 30 seconds to ensure its dead well the mind boggles if you think this is how quarry should be treat then it's nothing short of shameful
  7. Then surely it is either a extended choke or the wrong choke ??
  8. Clearly if you think united are going to win the league then the tramadol is having a terrible effect on your mind if nothing else . Try to wean yourself off them and stick a tenner on Chelsea.
  9. That looks a lovely gun , would be a shame if you could not hit much with it . Perhaps you should get some lessons they might help . If your dogs starts to get too disappointed in you I could offer him a good home .
  10. I went to visit a friend in hospital last week and they had signs up warning of a outbreak at the hospital . They had put hand washing facilities and anti bacteria hand foam at the hospital entrance. In the short time I was in that area I would guess no more that one in 50 people bothered to wash their hands going in or out.
  11. I saw some Eley cartridges in the shop last week that were copper shot , so I guess there must be a market for them , perhaps I will get some to try.
  12. How interesting . So you are saying it makes no difference , but pestcontrol1 says it improved his patterns by about 11 %. Have you patterned it yourself ?? I would think 11% improvement is very good especially to someone like me who needs all the help he can get !!
  13. Thanks Yes I guess that's true , I am sure I will be safe enough I have never had any complaints when I am at the clay ground , obviously I will have to only shoot at birds that are safe to do so and out of the way of beater etc.
  14. We all have to start somewhere , I am not a novice at shooting been doing it years just not very good on birds , on clays I get at least 25% as a rule . I am a little worried that I have heard there are going to be some very good shots on the shoot I have been invited on so I might end up looking daft.
  15. Hi thanks the advice , he called it walk and stand or something like that ?
