  1. Its not tulip as that is similar but has more green in it . Its definatly iroko but its often mistaken for idigbo which is an african timber . An old joiner i knew used to call em both umbongo . Its light and very easy to work with .
  2. Thanks fellas .it took me about 3 hours to get that far today As you can see the original stock is just too big in the pull and the grip area of the hand for a kid .my boy is only 8 and my girl 6 but they can both handle the gun in this stock .my boy had a big grin on his face this afternoon
  3. My wildcat in .25 cal
  4. Pics of woodland camo in synthetic and green and multicam .
  5. Thanks its made from iroko Which is light and very easy to work with as its pretty soft . Im probably gonna spray paint it for hardness
  6. Trying to post pictures More
  7. For my hw 30 .so it fits my kids better
  8. Yep very good Cheek piece is a touch lower than in the wood version .but for most thats no issue . Its lighter than the wood too
  9. Damson gin and tonic home made
  10. I have a young boy springer spaniel .that i work to the gun he comes to work with me and is a great family pet .i have 2 young children . He is very well trained he walks perfectly to heel and stops on command and his recall is amazing . Most evenings i walk him around our local greens without a lead .i dont even take one with me . I dont need to . I take him to school to collect my kids .they play with him down the park on the way home .a All the other kids come over to play ,all the children in the school (infants ) know his name and play ball etc with him .non of them are scared of him as he clearly poses no threat .he doesnt jump up and takes direction from perfect strangers and children .he is happy and a joy to be with for every one . This is is how dog owner ship should be . I pity the owners who have aggresive dogs straining at the lead .
  11. They arent true 2 stage but the older ones (as i have ) certainly feel and act as if they are . The newer gammo triggers on the se models are pap .
  12. Hey ips .if you pm me your email adress i will send you a couple ofpictures of my mates ultra max with bipod on
  13. Ive currently go 2 .both .177 Ive had 2 others a 177 and a .22 All older style .not the se versions. And they have all been great .good triggers fantasicly accurate and seeet shooting . My main one the .177 wood is better than my tx 200 . Ive youve got a bad one then your unlucky .
  14. Thats fair enough . Its a great combo .177 and .25 as they dont really step on each others toes
  15. Oh it is . But the same as a .22 lr .you have to hit the head or the front of the body .and shot too far back will just injure the rabbit .the one shot i think you can do with a .22 lrand not fac .25 is a body shot from the rear where the extra lr penetration takes the bullet through to the vitals .this wont happen with the airgun
  16. This i agree with 100 % Be the boss over every dog you own or see .every time and there wont be any issues .
  17. Yep exactly one of my perms is large garden passed for fac air .The feo s dont tend to differentiate between the fac air cals . So a garden will usually be just oassed for fac air .allowing your 50 fpe .25 or even a 100 fpe .30 cal . Tho personally i dont see any practical use for .30 cal your definatly into rimmy territory there . When i applied for my 3 cals .the feo asked if i wanted .30 too . I said no .
  18. The ultramax is a camo over beech wood stock with soft touch . Mate has one on his max and same stock in his scorpion se too Bsa have also released a couple of other camo stocks on thier ultras bith based on the black synthetic tactical stock . There is the older multicam (ie British military )and the woodlands camo which looks similar the the leaf pattern by realtree . Non of em feel horrible and as far as synthetic stocks go they are among the best . Again my mate has had no issues mounting bipods on his ultra max and his same stocked scorpion.
  19. Hi dc177 No worries .thats a good question. First off .i have small kids and dont want live rounds in my house . Second im an airgun nut and love to see what they can do . My buddy has .22 lr .17 hmr and above and i see what they can do and what they offer . For our perms at least the 17 hmr is too loud (horses people etc ) And in summer when the ground is hard the .22 lr with its bouncing bullets is a problem waiting to happen .the relatively fragile diabolo pellets shed energy fast and deform quickly making for a safer projectile The other issue i have with .22 lr especially is that there can be a lot of variation bullet to bullet in the powder or burn rate .with a bad batch this can seriously limit your group sizes and range to les than 50 yds . Doesnt matter how good you gun is if you feed it **** bullets ten accuracy can be way off . Again my mate has just retured 5000 .22 lr for this exact reson . A well set up pcp can be more accurate than a lr .curently my fx wildcat .25 is out performing my mates sako finfire .22 lr .by about 40 yds Oh a dead rabbit doesnt know if its hit by 30 fpe or 70 .
  20. A lot of people knock and dont get the .177 fac idea . But if you want to see how efective it can be take a look as some of matt dubber s ( airarms south africa) Early hunting vids where he only uses an s410 fac extra in .177 . Taking 80 yd kill shots .
  21. That kind of misses the point a bit . The heavier .25 cal is great if you need power or for longrange ground game like rabbits . But useless for anything elevated or with a poor back stop . (Think a row of houses 200 yds away or a road On the other side of a hedge across a large field ) .the heavy .25 can skip and go right through it still carrying 30 fpe and kill . Where as the .177 will loose virtually all its energy making these shots safe . Also i set all my fac airs around the same velocity .about 880 fps .for accuracy .and they all have basically the same trajectory . So its just as easy to hit a 60 yd rabbit with a .177 .22 or .25 Did you know that a 16 fpe .177 exact has less energy at 75 yds than a sub 12 .22 exact ? Making this .177 fac gun safer than the .22 sub 12 .in fallout terms ie shots that come down from an elevated shot . There is a place for all calibres its finding their best aplication .
  22. Thats good advice .try before you buy if you can as even 2 seemingly identical guns can shoot and feel completely different in many ways .every rfd has a pellet trap to clear guns brought in .ask if you can pop a pellet or 2 into it or over their chrono .this is something i insist on if its a s/h gun
  23. A nice springer is a very liberaring way to shoot . Just add pellets . If your gonna use it as a walk and stalk type gun .slung over your shoulder dropping wats and wabbits Id go with a ligher weight breakbarrel . I have an aa tx200 and it is awesome BUT it is heavy and slow to reload .ive missed a few follow up shots i would probably have made if i could have been quicker. With a break barrel for example . See my short list above . Ps .177 Only .22 shooters say it doesnt matter about cal .
  24. Hello harnser . Id say you have 2 choices given your requirments . First a quality springer (i wouldnt really bother with a gasram .same idea as a springer just harder to cock and more potential issues ) i personally would get a bsa lightening or a hw 99 or a walther terus Second if you dont mind pumping (ive pumped all my pcps for years its pretty easy with no down sides ) cheaper than bottles too . Id reccomend a bsa ultra these are amazingly accurate and reliable as they are well built and a simple design . As for calibre .a .177 will serve you best due to its flatter trajectory and its better suitability for rabbits and rats.
