  1. Sorry, it definitely wouldn't. If a drone with anything that upsets the balance, it's dropping like a whores drawers. Quad or not, upset just one prop, it's gone

    Howdy

Just a quick one to wish you guys a very Merry Xmas and all the best for 2019. Hope you all have a blast
  3. Rubber bullets been considered? I still favour the Stinger method
  4. Hi, If you read a lot of the media reports, they will have you believe the jet will will explode into a tumbling fire ball upon impact and subsequently kill all the starving kids in Africa and reincarnate Hitler. I am aware the strikes can be serious and can cause serious damage. However anything hitting the airframe or engine is a major incident if we're being honest about it, but the aircraft will more than likley make a safe landing. Even if its in the Hudson River. Sorry if i seem to make light of it and having you experinced it 1st hand I certainly didn't mean to offend you or make light of the situation as a whole, wasn't my intent anyway. I would have bricked it. As you will know, most airliners can fly on one engine though was I guess the point I was trying to make. This issue with drones scaring a lot of people when I really needn't, to the extent it is. Just my opinion.
  5. The fix to this is quite simple, make sure geo-fencing is hard locked and cannot be bypassed. Can easily be done. Problem solved. No need for elaborate solutions! Or give ATC Stingers, worked for the Afgans... No. While not good on the aircraft, a single drone would be very unlikely to bring one down catastrophically. Same goes for birdstrikes. Either way it wouldn't be good! The disruption this has caused alone is bad enough. No amount of legislative change will stop this happening. I feel bad for the RC and drone guys as this gives them a bad name (similar to what can happen to us if something bad happens) no responsible operator in thier right mind would do this intentionally or accidentally. I have a Phanton 4 and probably fly it once a month at that, even then I am so, so careful. I was actually flying over Loch Ness once and literally 10 seconds from where I was flying 2 Typhoons did a (very) low pass (Yeah I did get a pic too :)) to this day I think 'what if...' I believe the geo-fencing hard lock and a mandatory 10 year stretch is what's needed.
  6. I'm going with a Javelin. Cheaper the the current saga and effective
  7. Hatton Gardens all over again! Be a movie about it in 5 years
  8. Agreed, 28g would take care of it.
  9. Not read the full thread but I screw mine all the way the go back a quarter turn. Never had an issue. Avoid anything other than the chrome ones
  10. Agreed! It is an odd one. All those folk stranded and all the millions of quids lost over a drone, imo defo more too it. Perhaps admin should send BTP an email and we can all go for a bit of target practice
  11. Yeah the birdstrikes thing is debatable, in majority of cases it wouldn't bring down a commercial airliner is probably a better statement lol
  12. The blue is BAE at Warton Aerodrone. The yellows are just advisories
  13. I fly drones, as well as planes, pic posted of 'geo fenced airspace. It needs to be hacked or bypassed to get near
  14. There is something more to this, without doubt. You have to assume the drones being used are not your average Argos peice of kit. Anything else would be equipped with GPS tracking in case the drone is lost in flight or can fly home in event of a disconnect from the controls. All airports in the UK are 'geo fenced' as are a lot of stadiums, meaning that must have been bypassed to get anywhere near. Under normal circumstances the drone would fly back to the operator. The fact there have been multiple sightings is a clear indication something sinister is going on. A shotgun would get rid of the threat no problem at all and no risk of stray rounds. If something was strapped to the drone to cause more damage than just a strike, that could stop it being shot down. Most commercial aircraft can hold up to multiple birdstrikes, a drone to the engine, while it's not good, wouldn't be enough to bring it down. There's something they ain't telling us, I'd bet my ticket on it lol
  15. Bloody hell!!! Hope the fella is okay, that's a mess!!! I'm assuming he wouldn't be using steel if was at the clay ground so I'd agree a blockage is the likley suspect. I heard a story of a fella at one on my local shoots who ended up with mud in the end of the barrel. He had the gun broke and pointed down but at some point it must have touched the ground. The results where similar I heard. Wish the fella a speedy recovery.
  16. Yeah not something I'm into myself, I just know about it as there is a club nearby and they are pretty rare to find. Been invited a few times, it's just not my cup of tea. Ill stick to clays and wild/waterfowling lol
  17. The discipline is called Practical Shotgun. If you do a Google search it should show what's about in your local area. You would need 5+1 though so an FAC shotgun
  18. Took me 4 months from putting in to getting it. 6-7 months if you count the time I invested in making sure I was profiteint and safe. Agree a national system would be much better, but it is what it is currently.
  19. Hi Guys, Cheers for all the advice. Much appreciated. I'll stick the barrel in a snooker cue cover in the boot and take the action indoors and lock it away. Thanks again.
  20. Hi Folks, Over the festive period we are going to stay with my brother and sister in law for 3 days. There are a few decent clay grounds near by that I fancy a look on. Ideally, I want to take my gun, but it would have to be out the safe for that amount of time to come with me. I'm unsure on the rules around this and as it stands I don't think it's allowed, but I'm not sure, so I'm looking for a bit of advice. To provide some context, I will always be in the house with the gun broken down, stored and locked away until we leave to use it if it comes with us. The house is secure and the inlaws are both credible and sound, both work as prison officers. At the minute I'm unsure as I have been told different things so for now it's staying home. Going to get some more advice tomorrow, just wondered if anyone here knew for sure what is and isn't allowed. I assume when you go on overnight, organised shoots, the organisers provide safe storage? Cheers
  21. True story, I did mine in North Carolina
  22. I'm in an SR22 most of the time and it is equipped with ballistic parachute, or BRS. Also full life raft system, but you ditch that most of the time as its just extra weight and a drain on juice. Just make sure you throttle back if you ever need to pull that red lever!!! Chances of ever using it are slim to none, but it's there nevertheless!
