  1. Hi Longbower, doesn't it help spot quarry in the canopy or undergrowth during the day?
  2. The problem was he shot across four gardens, hit someone else's property and shot at a pigeon at sixty yards with open sights, it wasn't moaning about someone plinking in the garden. He broke a string of laws and that is a problem to the airgun community.
  3. I'm not really one to be intimidated by anyone, it was just a case of how to deal with it and hopefully it is sorted now. My two neighbours know I shoot and do it responsibly so any problems I will direct to the new neighbours.
  4. The days of filling someone in are long gone, got a family, mortgage and responsible job now, plus I'm far too pretty for jail. Hopefully it won't happen again if it does crimestoppers will get a call. Cheers for all the advice, entertaining as usual. I will let you know if it does happen again, it is Bank Holiday weekend after all.
  5. I spoke to the lad earlier today, he said it was his brother in law and dad with the rifle and he didn't realise the severity of his actions. It was never a case of being scared or cowardly, I'm a big bloke with a shaved head and don't say much. I just didn't want to come across as a nosy neighbour. Hopefully that's it and all will be well.
  6. The bloke went to his van as my wife and I got back from shopping, stunk of weed, think I will steer clear.
  7. It's hard to do the right thing these days when everyone is offended by everything. I don't want to come across as a busy body but the guy fired at someone else's property and that's a firearms offence on the eyes of the law. Hopefully it is a one off if not I will have a word.
  8. He's only 3 doors down Stu so he's seen me already, it could have just been a one off there were 3 of them there and I'm not sure who lives there, they've been doing the house up for ages. If it happens again I'll have a word. Also I will show any coppers that turn up this thread, I've got a fence a wall and I still use a box filled with old magazines and a metal plate for a backstop just in case.
  9. Hi fellas, new neighbours have moved in a few doors down, and on Saturday I heard the unmistakable crack of a springer. Great I thought, looking across the gardens at a paper target pinned to their back fence, another airgunner, I can use this as an ice breaker. The bloke then appeared rifle shouldered and took a pot shot at 2 pigeons sat in the guttering of the flats opposite. As it was a good 60 yard shot and he had open sights the pellet bounced off the roof scattering the pigeons. I shook my head in dismay and my missus told me not to interfere. I don't want to be a nosy neighbour but should I tell him he can't fire across 4 gardens and everything else wrong with the situation or just leave him to get on with it. Cheers
  10. Well I haven't seen a squirrel my garden this year until ten minutes ago. Head shot from the bird feeder. 1155
  11. To be honest I think her husband fancies wearing a barbour and cap, I will stick to my running dogs.
  12. Is this like when people tell you their Bedlington is Gutchcommon or Rillington lines when both breeders have been dead for years, the pup she's looking at is from the Drakeshead kennels. I don't know much about gundogs so I advised her to find a good working dog breeder. Her husband fancies doing some field trials with it.
  13. Thanks for that bigbird, if you've had two they must be good.
  14. Hi fellas, has anyone heard of or had any experience with Drakeshead Gundogs near Chorley? A fiend is looking at a lab pup from them, it's only for a pet home. Cheers
  15. Thanks chaps I've ordered two tuffies for the hounds. Free post too.
  16. They are saluki so a bit bony and need the padding, they sleep on the kids old bean bags, but one chew or vigorous scratch and the kitchen us full of polystyrene balls. I need something comfy and tough.
  17. Hi fellas any advice on a decent dog mattress, I've just looked at kennelnate but with postage for 2 beds it's £295, 35 quid of that is the postage. I thought it was a bei steep. Thanks for any advice
  18. I've lost a couple of grub screws on my huggett shroud, I contacted them to see if I could get replacements, and he's sending some out free of charge. Excellent service can't recommend enough. Cheers
  19. No one is bothered about the Karen's of this world, but I can't shoot birds for the same reason I can't course Hares anymore, it's against the law! Which even if I don't agree with I still have to abide by.
  20. Let's face it if it flies into your garden to be on the safe side don't shoot it!
  21. Both neighbours have open bird tables, I have cleared the squirrel population and haven't seen a rat for 2 months, I've got a trail camera out constantly, but there are Wood pigeon and magpies everywhere.
  22. I get say half a dozen mopping up spilled bird food a couple of times a day, the woodies and magpies are constantly around. I don't think I could claim damage and I couldn't prove magpies are killing birds, even though we know that they are. It's a pity because I enjoy pigeon.
  23. I'm growing peas but it's hardly a crop, think I will have to let them get on with it.
  24. Don't think I can justify as not causing damage and not endangering rare species.
