  1. Suzy, Congrat on the way you and your husband decided what to do and then followed thru with your plan. Self confidence is a big tool, he learned with effort he can accomplish what he sets out to do. You may have accomplished more than you might think. RGD
  2. Roughshot, I raise and train dogs so I usually have at least 5 dogs in our home/kennel. All our dogs are pointing type bird dogs. We have two Gordons, two Ryman English Setters, and a Small Munsterlander on the grounds right now. No problems with the exercise, feeding ect. We also train and supply a lot of our clients dogs for them. We recently acquired some nice forest property in Potter /Tioga county Pa, USA where our main training facility is now located. Its all in how you set up your kennel and home that determines how hard or easy it is to manage your animals. Having the right amount of space/acerage really helps. The pavilion you see in the picture is set up so we can have an entire litter of pups housed in it safely. RGD

  5. Frank, Hate to see you giving in to the politcians, don't sell your guns. Spent some time with the Ausie Special Forces men. I will tell you this, those men will never give up their personal weapons, no matter what the politicians decide to do. You can always come to the USA, no man takes our guns here and we are free to shoot and hunt thru out our country. Owning my weapons means a lot more to me than just hunting or shooting, it means freedom to live how I want, without fear from politicians or would be bad men. RGD
  6. Stwart, Pretty new here myself, welcome from the USA, Pa mountains. The forum seems like a real nice place, hope you like it. RGD

  8. NTTF, At Pine Creek Grouse Dog Trainers we introduce the gun in a similar manner, starting with the blank pistol when the pup is about 25 weeks old. The pup is let into our training woods where it gets educated as to his natural hunting habitat. As he is playing and is looking for our wild Grouse, the trainer makes sure he is 35 or more yards away as the pup romps freely the light blank is fired. This goes on at different times for a few days, next comes the larger blanks and we move up to the 28 Guage as the pup gets older, with very light shells. When the pup is a might older we have him find and point a planted Chukar, the bird is flushed and shot down from approx the same yardage as the blank gun was fired. In this manner the pup always concentrates on the bird, and killing the bird on the 1st 28 guage shot insures the positive imprint of gun fire, meaning dead bird. As the dog gets older we introduce the 20, 16 and 12 guage guns while actually hunting. We use this method on all our pointing dogs, we have no gun shy dogs using this training technique. RGD
