  2. Not the good start you were hoping for.. As you say, let the dust settle then take her along to a game fair, book her in on a BASC shooting line.. They'll have plenty of experience with youngsters..
  3. Ha ha.. Duck blastin will do for the moment..

  4. To be fair, It could easily have been a typo ......... Perhaps it should have read 'Rat'
  5. I did notice that Mr Wallace only said he had 'shot' foxes with an air rifle.. Never said he killed any mind you...
  6. Hi Chard, you old sea dog. I reckon the answer is a 'weight' ratio thingamajig. The single barrel would be quite lively, compared to your 682, Pointability perhaps? Pirate:

    Mortgage crunch

Markio & Sniper: Lads: My post was only meant to bring a ray of light to what appears to be a daunting path. I wasn't smugly suggesting it was an easy path, and irrespective of whose fault it may be, or what should have been done; property is expensive. I know exactly how you lads feel, I’ve been there, but the fact remains, if you want to get on the property ladder, you must find that ‘difference’ between renting and buying. I was not privileged by any means, and I vividly recall, holding down 3 jobs and working a 60-70 hour week, with no spare time, or spare cash for luxuries in the early days, just graft! (My priorities) However you may feel about this County’s misgivings, and many are undoubtedly justified, the fruit is there for the picking, you just have to reach that bit higher than your neighbour, or settle for the ‘fallers’. Good luck Lads. Pirate:

    Mortgage crunch

Hi Sniper: It's basically a numbers game, and not as bleak as it first appears! Wherever you choose to live, there will be a cost. From the £850 pcm you mentioned, deduct the cost of an equivalent rental property, and only the 'difference', is the basic cost of ownership! Compare what return this "difference" would have brought in various investment scenario's, over the last 35 years! Admittedly, there are no guarantee's as to what the future might hold, but 35 years ago, home buyers were faced with exactly the same decisions. Pirate:
  11. Funky: We live in a Capitalist society, where everyone has the opportunity to make a good life for themselves and their families. Save for the unfortunate, who by no reasons of idleness need the help of the state, the rest of society are free to flower, and therefore support the less fortunate. The less fortunate, for whatever good reason, I am happy to assist. The idle and work-shy spongers, I am not. Is it the responsibility of the likes of myself, to create jobs for others? No. But by doing so, I am entitled to make a profit, and am entitled to spend that profit on whatever I choose, be it property, education, Stella or Bling! Myself, and all of my business friends, have paid obscene amounts of tax, and each and every one, have contributed to this country of ours in many ways. If the wealth of the Nation were to be equally distributed, within a few years it would probably be back where it is now. The tracksuit brigade, choose to dress the way they do, they choose to pigeonhole themselves. They also choose to live the life they do, and I have no respect for anyone who is capable, but unwilling to look after themselves, and to contribute to society, irrespective of how they choose to adorn themselves. They may not all be bad, but they do have the choice as to how the rest of society perceives them. I choose not to wear tribal colours. Pirate:
  12. Bloke next door's son had the lot! Tracksuit that didn't fit, loads of Bling, da Nike hood, luminous Nova, and could say 'Booyakasha' whilst flickin is fingers, innit! Ended up flogging it all cos he couldn't get the hang of walking sideways! Pirate:
  13. Hi Bob: I've got 2 fridges in my front garden, you can have 1. You can't however, have the outboard engine, mattress, 2 Cortina doors, burned out 'Flymo', or the wheel-less wheelbarrow. These garden ornaments are far better deterrent than any Burglar Alarm. Pirate: Are there any good pee stains on the mattress? Some probably are! Gawd know what the rest are! Vile!!! Pirate:

  16. Hi Sniper: Although I somehow feel you may have embroidered this a tad, I do understand where you are coming from. I've actually come across a couple of guys as you describe, but not sponsored shooters. Really thought they were helping, but their condesending manner spoiled the gesture. Don't let it dent your enthusiasm for this sport, these guys are very few and far between! Enjoy your shooting fella, ignore ****'s! Pirate:
  17. Hi Cornholio: I have driven Mitsubishi's for around 8 years now, and am now on my 2nd Pajero. In all that time, other than servicing, I've had minimal repairs. Not bad considering the one I have now is 12 years old! They don't do 30 mpg, as they do weigh a bit. Pirate:

    What 4x4

Hi Funky: Only ever had Mitsubishi's, so not in a position to compare. Got my 2nd Pajero, Lwb 2800 diesel auto. I love it! Great on the road, and good enough off road for where I need to go. (Bridgestone Duelers). Got my vote. Pirate:
  19. Just what our sport needs: Class, style, panache, a really eloquent turn of phrase, and a 'Top shot' to-boot! Delightful!! Pirate:
  20. Appologies tiercel, you were correct... Nigel Le Vaillant Nigel Havers was in the last few episodes, and I got mixed up. Sorry fella. Tied score: The Great Cornholio & Tiercel Thank you all: Happy Easter!! Pirate:
  21. I make it 5 to Cornholio, 4 to tiercel. Last chance of a draw, or a win to Cornhilio. 2. Who Was The Last Actor To Play Dangerfield? Pirate:
