Hi all, glad to have finally joined PW again, used to be on here years ago however could never remember the name. Who am I? I’m a gamekeeper based in rural Essex who has a passion for shooting and conservation. I’m crazy about my pursuit of wildfowl on the marsh as I have done since the age of 8, I still go with my dad every season. I love all forms of shooting, I enjoy my fishing too. I come from a line of shooting family, who have all been involved in gamekeeping some way or another, and hope to share stories, tips and many other things with you all. Cheers, EF

Hi all, I have registered interest with both Langstone and Chichester Wildfowling clubs last year whilst my SGC Grant was in with Hampshire Constabulary. I have now received an email to progress my application with Chichester but my SGC Grant application was refunded along with everyone else's in Hampshire. With no light as to when they are going to start accepting applications again do you think I could still join one of the wildfowling clubs ready for next season? I would have to go out for the first year with another member anyway so would not having a SGC be that much of an issue to start with? Also does anyone know of the pros and cons or have any recommendations of either clubs?

I haven`t had many walks recently since the dog passed but decided to go this morning as its my day off the ice has melted and its going to be bad weather for kayak fishing in the North sea. Apologies for some shaky shots, I should have taken the tripod! I walked down to the croy and on the way saw a few scats from a fox and as I crested the top of the croy a grey heron flew off, but fortunately the kingfisher didn`t. They are getting quite numerous on the river now even if the salmon are declining. We also get a lot of otters and all the fish eating duck and cormorants too so there seems to be plenty of different sized fish in the river, just a shame that salmon are declining so much. The greylags were just lifting off as I headed upstream and I could hear a raven and some wigeon. The greylags pictures were all blurry as they were 400m away and I used too much zoom and the raven stayed well away too, but the wigeon were having a great time in the shallows preening and having a few squabbles. The beavers have been busy recently and a lot of this years growth has been cut back and either eaten or stored. They have several stores along the river and you can see evidence of them all the way into Perth and beyond the harbour. I think this is a lodge rather than a store as its well used, I`ve seen young nearby and there is a path directly opposite. The path along the river runs at right angles to this and you can probably make it out. Thankfully these were far enough away from the path so they weren`t a hazard to everyone who walks there, but I`m sure someone will get injured by their gnawing or burrowing habits. It`s fantastic to have this a short walk away from my house and when we move I am going to miss it all, but for now I`m just going to enjoy it.

Avery layout blind, waterproof backing, shoulder straps, framed back rest/face blind. Can be mudded and has loops for straw/vegitation and holds me and a spaniel with ease (two spaniels was a nightmare so don`t try that folks!). Too large/expensive to post, £65. I live in Perth but travel to Tyneside via the A1fairly regularly.

If there is anyone on here that could help me with getting in touch with SHWA (south Hampshire wildfowlers' association) it would be greatly appreciated. I'm currently a member of DWA however the club requires you to have a boat as there's no access by foot. When the water is to rough it means you can't safely go out. So a club that I could access by foot would be good to be a part of too. I've tried there website but it seems some of the addresses are out of date. Any help would be great. Tim.
