oneshotkiller
I have a far amount of permission these days which took a fare amount of time to build up plus lots on leg work and backscratching. Now i know many new shooters struggle with permissions so i try and share as i can , for instance i have help from a local lad who uses ferrets on a horse paddock i have permission over reason being i only use a sub 12ftilbs rifle and this field needs to be kept clear of rabbits for the horses safety in return i enjoy a days sport with him and the stinkies every ones happy Now a old boy fro the next village has just got into shooting , bought himself a brand new daystate leupold scope full advantage timber camo gear etc etc . He,s a nice enough lad and i said i needed some help later in the year clearing some rats from the barns and in the mean time i'll give him a day on the rabbits , on a sheep farm , took him on sunday helped him zero his rifle and explained range estimation and wind to him , any way bit of paper punching later and he's getting some good groups so off we trot along the hedge line . Anyway he gets his first rabbit , i feel quite proud of myself because i helped him get his first meal with his rifle , hes happy as cause he got his first coney So i sets off last night for a spot of lamping and gets to the farm set up my lamp and scan the first field :o odd not one rabbit ? i then see a red beam cutting across the next field obviously i'm thinking poachers so i hope in my truck and set off to the field to have a word as i'm the only one with permission , i get there and its matey i took out on sunday with 3 of his mates :good: to say i was angry was a understatment ! I gave them a earful and told em to sling there hook , not even so much as a sorry just a load of lip and the usual " we wern't doing no harm " cheeky ****ers i woldnt mind if he was a young lad as we all pushed it a bit when younger but he's in his 20's !!! I told him if i catch him again i'll report him to the police and get him charged with armed tresspass , but thats not the point i went out of my way to help someone new to the sport i sometimes wonder why i bother

So now i run mine with a select few and the same with shooting as it's to easy to lose good land I hear ya mate . the thing is with most people new to the sport (i said most not all) how many really put the time and effort in to get the best out of this sport , I'm talking the hours of paper punching , getting out there and knocking on doors i had loads of knock backs before i got the nod . I've also put some hard graft in on my permissions , laying up to my eyes in pigeon """" popping ferals , losing a nights sleep lamping rats round pheasant pens and all so i can get the landowners trust to shoot the rabbits some of which are in fields with some valuable livestock . I'll offer anyone some help if they want it and they don't take the mick but this really ****** me off , the next time i offer help or a days sport to anyone i wont take them straight on the good stuff they can experience pigeon poo up to there elbows

I've spent days charging round Welsh hillsides rounding up sheep, in yards sliding around in **** trying to catch the so and so's so they can be sprayed and dosed, walking miles behind a thousand sheep screaming 'oosh, on ya go! Get on there!" to get the permission to go rid some fields of vermin. When you find some lads out there with their dogs and the lamps gets on your wick a bit. And I don't even know them! Colster
It's all about respect isn't it. I bet **** like that probably leave any winged ones cos they can't be ***** to spend time doing the decent thing. No respect for people that help them, no respect for the animals they shoot..... ok I'm gonna stop short of saying "Them townies, dun unnerstan tha waays of the cunry"

cloud9
I had this happen to me i helped a friend out let him come shooting with me on my permission let the farmer know who he was. a week later farmer kicked them off the permission, he had took his 2 lads shooting they where using my farmer friends signs as targets i managed to get that permission back this year NOW no1 go's on my shoots without me its not worth kicking myself in the foot for somebody else's stupid acts. I shoot nearly every day and have been shooting 20year this christmas (apart from 3 year off after a car crash) when my grandad give me my first air rifle a hw25 (OH AND IM NOT OLD IM 29 LOL) but i still love my hobbie and its a shame when others spoil it
