RossEM
Well, had a brilliant day's shooting on saturday - I set up just 12 shell decoys on the rape stubble at 9am and packed up at 1pm, having shot 67 woodies and a right-and-left of carrion crow! That's my personal best doubled, and I only stopped shooting because I ran out of cartridges! 2 bonuses: the farmer was well chuffed when I saw him and brought down 250 cartridges for me today, AND put me in touch with a gamedealer who will pay 30p per bird for pigeons. All in all, a great weekend! Cheers, Ross

shoughton
Lovely - well done Ross! I walked the dog first thing Sat morning and noticed that the woodies were flocking well and that the newly drilled fields were covered. We put loads of birds up as we walked along and they were desperate to get back down. I was really sore that I had promised to hand a couple of new doors in the dining room, and to perform a weekend makeover of my Son's bedroom! So there was no shooting for me other than the 3 or 4 shots first thing. To make matters worse I could hear others having what sounded a very busy day on the pigeons. All chores now completed I hope to get out late this week and make up for lost time. Edited October 5, 2009 by shoughton

RossEM
Thanks for all the comments all. I was really surprised about the cartridges too, to be fair I've been keeping the pigeons off his fields for 10 years or so, so it's about ******* time!! Looks like it's gonna be another windy weekend down here (*parp*) so I'll let you know how I get on!
