PaulABF
When I first bought mine I still had a load of 65mm 28gm carts so used them. They worked ok although I had 1 stoppage. Since then I've used a variety of 30/32gm carts and had no problems whatsoever. I do strip and clean the gun after every outing though and lightly oil all the working parts. For pigeons I use clear pigeon No6 32 gm. Edited October 27, 2009 by PaulABF

babka3487
They should sell a good cleaning kit at the shop where you are buying the gun. As for the gun and cartridges you'll read a lot of differing opinions on here about the escort but I've alwas been happy with mine using it for wildfowling pigeons and clays and not had a single stoppage ad I've used magnum steel carts through to 28g 8's! henry c
My mate uses Eley HB Pigeon 32 gram 6.5 shot - for rough shooting. And Eley First 28 gram on clays with his Escortt Magnum. He hasnt has any stoppages so you wont go far wrong with these!
PaulABF
For a cleaning kit I use a generic 12g cleaning rod mixed with army issue scotch bright pad, gun oil and flannelette. Does the trick.
TonySmith
I have used 24g-7.5 to 34g-5 in my Escort, the 34g-5 is my 'regular' cartridge wit h3/4 choke, I am the same as PaulABF with regards cleaning, mine has not missed a beat. unclemicky
Mine does not like 65mm cartridges , but 67mm plus no problems what so ever
ForeignGadger
Mine has a 3" chamber and cycles 28g and above no problem, length no problem. I seem to have settled for 30 / 6 clear pigeon for almost anything, and occasionally a Hull High Pheasant 30/5 for longer range crows. I love it, but it certainly gives you a blast in the right ear-hole compared to a 20g o/u: wear hearing protection. FG
kev 1
Mine does not like 65mm cartridges , but 67mm plus no problems what so ever Mne used to jam and i had to use 70mm carts, but since my rfd sent it back for repair it is ok now on the short carts... COACH
Only buy a box of one type of cartridges at a time for a while until you find the ones that your gun likes. All semi auto`s will work with 70mm cartridges best because of the way the chamber is made but will work with others. It`s best to use 30g/32g for rough/pigeon. 5s for rabbits 6s for pigeons but use fibre wads. 24g 8s for clays. Stick your half choke in and apart from cleaning it every trip out, leave the choke in there and you`ll be fine.
bicykillgaz
i miss it well bad, fantastic gun, a lot of people knock em but i couldn't fault mine only ever jammed with some 28g no6 65mm think they we're coppins so i just used 32g no6 eley,rc,hull or hull 36g BB for fox or 34g no5 i think it was for hare(within 15-25yds or BBfor further), i just whipped a snake through it a couple of times after each outing and stripped and wiped with an oily cloth the rest of it and used a proper brush once in a blue moon, when i get back to work and have the cash im gonna get another you can't go wrong with them in my experience with them anyway
