How much would be fair a year to rent 500 acres of grazing land and woodland

 

Just a rough estimate so i dont go into this tottally blind

i rent 1200 acres and i pay a little over 3000 including vat, and that forestry commision land

So about 2.50 a acre , that seems ok to me .

Are you passed for Fac on the land you rent

This is my whole idea for renting the land

forstry dont allow rifles cos off the deer shooting they let it out them selfs i have shooting rights for shotgun and air rifle but not fac ones

Have 1,000 acres rented in Aberdeenshire for £1,000 including VAT.

So between a syndicate of 5 you could rent 1,000 acres for £200/each a year, seems reasonable

How do you go about renting land?, were did you look for this as im completely new to this, but this seems the best way to get a perminant spot to shoot on

forestry commision tender the land they have available, start looking now cos when shoots finish at the end of the season some dont renew, you have to be lucky thou, that u put in the right price could be another 10 people tendering for that bit of land.

 

Foxes, i cant do alot myself appart from snare them or sit and wait with the shotty. Most of them are dealt with by the ranger thou which is quite good.

 

Forestry shoot are hard work and can be quite expensive my shoot costs about 8000 to run and thats not including my fuel bill running around feeding and vermin controling etc

if you're releasing game birds on the land it would be a restriction not to be able to effectively control foxes or does forrestry land not have them?

A couple of us have been considering it up here. But we cannot even find 100 acres suitable (i.e pods of trees, scrub etc) for a reasonable little syndicate.....
