mosa
I was looking for a mod for my .223 and went to a gun room not too far away from me today where we tested the few i had thought of out the back. We tested a T8 £220 T4 £210 ase jet z £320 and another one i forget the name of and they all sounded roughly the same (bit of a valley out the back and was windy so may have been some echo etc ) he said the ase was the lowest in decibells when tested with a meter (on a calmer occation) but to be honest for the price they are all much of the same or to a few of us there anyway. I had decided i would go for the jet z before i went but now i dont think its worth paying the extra £100 from the T8 cheers shaun ps this test was carried out on a
Dunkield
You can get a jet z next time, when your T8 rots out, or the spot welds come apart
Billy.
You can get a jet z next time, when your T8 rots out, or the spot welds come apart Exactly what I've heard... Apparently it's to do with condensation inside the mod. I'm sure if you take care of it, it'll be ok.

Dunkield
If the pictures are still here, do a serach to have a look at at least 2 that were looked after and still had holes blow through them.

Blackbart
I did the same a weldon mosa and opted for the ase northstar for my 22-250 and couldnt be happier with it
harv
is it worth the extra no, the noise difference is negligible, there are thousands of t4's and t8's in use probably a few hundred on PW without any problems!
roadkill
i have the dm80 for my 243 , great mod and comes apart to clean
garyb
I store my T8 off the rifle, and give it a squirt of gun cleaner after every use. I'd buy another one in all honesty...
cooter
Mods always perform better when they are calibre specific. The .243 would be ok for the T8 and T4 but if the ASE tested was calibre specific it would be much better. The suppressing effect of a T4 or T8 will change (lessen) on the .223. I think the comment, "When tested with a meter it was better" from manufacturers, and the man on the street, is confusing, as the sound is only present for a millisecond, and the time sampling of most meters is adjustable, so you never know what it was set to. To really test the supressing effect you need to fire the thing in an anechoic chamber, and run a full set of readings, across all dB ranges for the milliseconds that the sound is actually present. What really matters is that it sounds ok to you, and any mod is better than no mod at all. Cooter
Dunkield
Another benefit of the ASE mods is they are about half the size of the old cans, about a third in some cases. My .223 mod is no bigger then my .22 SAK Great piece of engineering, makes the others obsolete IMO, unless you are particularly fond of having a dustbin on the end of your rifle of course...
