njc110381
I don't like Christmas. I like spending time with family I don't see much, but that's it. I don't go to church, I'm not entirely sold on the idea of god. To celebrate such a religious time once a year then carry on not believing just isn't right in my opinion. The whole point of it has been lost for 99% of the population. I doubt some kids even know the reason behind it. People go out and spoend a fortune on presents that half the time nobody really wants or needs. To me it's pointless.

Chard
Not at all, I just hate the use of this particular word, give children the respect they deserve by calling them young humans, not goats. Alternatives not based on other species are OK too. I'll have to make sure my young humans have a good Christmas then  As it happens, I don't hate the use of this word
Guest rimotu66
Cant stand it, so bloody commercialised and expensive, I really do feel sorry for familys on low wages with kids that see how wonderful the world is on the tv ads... Am an athiest as well so wont celebrate something I dont believe in. Ok soap box is put away now...

Doc Holliday
I don't like Christmas. I like spending time with family I don't see much, but that's it. People go out and spoend a fortune on presents that half the time nobody really wants or needs. To me it's pointless. It's nothing to do with God. Last I heard it had something to do with a bloke named Jesus. I'm not sold on the idea of (a?) God either but I do get a sense of well being at this time of year as it reminds me it's a time for giving without expecting, and I'm not talking expensive presents either. You can give to others without spending a fortune. Until recently, I used to deliver a bottle of wine, port or spirit to my long term good customers as a thank you and it was always genuinely appreciated. But I do fully agree with you about the presents thing in general. Totally pointless giving stuff for the sake of it just to show you've remembered to buy for someone. I remember getting one of the packs that had a shirt and tie in it from Littlewoods (the shop not the catalogue). I wouldn't have minded but I only ever used to wear white tee shirts and jeans and didn't have a suit. I think I returned it for a credit note that never got spent. We rest our case!
