The above program was installed on my DELL PC when bought a few years ago. It vanished off my PC about 8months ago, and despite trying to get it to work, nothing happens. The program is 'there' but when I try and go back to a previous date, a message says that it cannot restore to that previous date etc. I don't have a Window's XP CD.

Is there a way of re-installing this program, or is there a program out there similar to this, that I can purchase.

Any help/advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Steve.

do you have a system restore point to go back too ? the message you're getting suggests not.

did you create a system restore file on cd/dvd or do you have a partition on your hard drive with a system restore point.

have you tried the dell blogspot to get answers ?

I have tried many system restore points to revert too, but none work. I haven't created a system retore file on CD and haven't got a partition on my drive. Haven't tried the dell blogspot, did not know it existed.

I did not receive a System Restore CD whenI bought the computer, although it did come with many other re-install programs.

It can be switched on or off..if it is "Off" it will not have set automatic restore points which it does every time you install a program or do an update, Dell normally have a "Reset to factory defaults", you might be able to find how to do this on line, if it came with no back up disc, it almost certainly has a partitioned hard drive with the OS in it..this will be hidden from view normally.

I'm not trying to restore anything in particular. I just want the program back so that I can pick a restore date in case i download a program or game etc, and it causes a problem.

Tony, I'll check the website out on the weekend mate (working till then) and will contact you if I get stuck (which will probably be the case.

Thanks everyone

If every thing is running fine at the moment and you what it to work 'just because you can' then make a restore point now.

I think from what you have said, your system is fine but just in case you want to download something, you would like a restore point.

Goto system restore and create a restore point. always handy to back up files, photos, music and favourite up once a week/month, depending on pc use.

I dont like partitions as if hard drive goes then all gone. i just back every thing over to a stand along Hd once a week. pain in bum but learnt the hard way................twice.lol.
