Elma Fud
Just been out in these gales, sat in my car for 15 mins when i noticed that the pigeons were all flighting over some tall Scots Pine trees. I made my way there and all hell broke loose, the pigeon were heading back to roost. I had about 80 cartridges and fired them all in about 20 mins accounting for 20 birds. Some birds were high, while some scimmed the hedge tops, but all were like rockets. Who cares about kill ratio's when you've got birds like these. What an afternoon! Has anyone else been out in these winds

Cranfield
I was looking around this morning. The rape fields I shoot over, had the gale blowing right across them, with no sheltered area. No birds could have sat on the fields for more than 2 secs. Winds with East or West in them, are "best" for me. I didn,t see any birds flying around and I guess they were deep in the woods, looking for shelter. I was quite cold and had no intention of going looking for them. The wind chill factor must have been well below freezing.
