alexr
Admitting that it was some 20 odd years ago, always thought the 77 was a bit of a heavy weight compared to the 80.
Alycidon
When it came out the 77 was less powerfull but could make 12ft lbs ok, it was though more accurate, most of the field target boys were using them before PCPs came along.. Downside of 77 is a possability of injuring your thumb if the weapon discharges when you are loading it. If one is 177 and you are under 12 ft lbs thats the one I would have, flatter shooting than 22 and just as deadly. A

bruno22rf
My money would be on the 80-at 12lbft its only ticking over.Check for any movement side to side on the barrel once its cocked or get a competant g/smith to do it for you-look at the breach screws and see if there are any signs of tinkering. While the barrel is down and the rifle cocked swing the barrel up and down gently to see if the action is smooth. If in any doubt walk away cos theres plenty for sale-if its a goodun then you've got a friend for life. fatcontroller
I have not used the 80, but I have a 77 which I have owned for 17 years and it's still excellent. FC
