togger
Well i've just got back after a 2.5 hr drive from Jasons. I drove down yesterday afternoon after an excited awaited day. I arrived at 4.45pm to a warm welcome from Jason & Missy and a much appreciated cup of hot tea. Half an hour later and we were suitably dressed and off we went. During the first hour we saw several bucks, one of which was a big one about 350 yards away grazing in a field, one jumped out in front of us and made good it's escape. We made our way into the wood and saw several more but none of which were in a position to target. With Jason's knowledge and experience he took us up to another area and as we got to a crossroads in the wood we could see two does about 300yds in front, but sneaking a look round to the right he spotted another. We backed off a little way, and then crawled into position, gun set up, breathing steadied (despite the excitement and adrenalin), good sight picture...bang! First deer! A strong handshake and congratulations and we made our way to recover it. I eventually stopped smiling (not!) and we made our way back to the car.. the two hour session was just up. We made our way back to the house, where I was then invited to join Jason & Missy for dinner. A fantastic half a cow and a good chin wag and then I set up the bed in the back of the van and spent the night at the farm. An early morning wake up knock on the side of the van from Jason with a hot brew brought me round this morning. All in all I can highly recommend anyone booking a stalking session with Jason. The ground is fantastic, the welcome you get is unmatchable and you come away with experience and pleasure. If you haven't booked a session yet, get one booked. I can't wait to go again. Thanks Jason.

He did his best to present me with another safe shot . Can seriously say we need to export muntys north . allthegearandnoidea
I went out with Muntjacstalker on Friday evening and had a cracking evening out. Saw loads of deer out there. After driving home from work to pick up the rifle I headed up to Bedfordshire which on a Friday afternoon on a bank holiday weekend and having to go round the M25 was not a lot of fun! Anyway, I had left in plenty of time so even with all the traffic jams and road works I managed to get there on time. We had a cup of tea, got the gear together then headed out. Jason lives in a gorgeous part of the world, lovely unspoilt countryside and very quiet. I was amazed at how noisy my walking boots sounded! Anyway, the first opportunity arose, Jason spotted a doe down in amongst the trees so we went down one of the rides and spotted another 2 at the bottom. We stalked closer then dropped to the ground and got as close as we could. Jason told me to get ready so I put the rifle on the bipod but I could only see the backside of the deer with it front end in the scrub, so we waited hoping for it to take a step or two back so that I could see the whole animal and get a shot. After waiting a few minutes it took a couple of steps forward rather than back and disappeared into the wood. We spotted another couple on another ride and as we approached they moved slowly off into the grass, oblivious to us, so again we got on the deck and waited to see if they would move back onto the ride. They decided to move deeper into the wood so Jason told me to get up and move behind an oak tree and see if I could get a clear shot from there. Being the end of April the grass etc. was getting quite high and although I could see three muntjac I couldn’t see a clear shot and after a couple of minutes they moved off without coming into a clearing. At dusk we were driving to another wood when we spotted a muntjac in a field. We parked up in a wood and then went over the fence into the field to get closer. The deer had been moving slowly towards a gate where the grass was shorter and when we got close enough, Jason told me to rest the rifle on his shoulder and wait until I could get a clear shot. All I could see was the top of its back and head so I watched it through the scope as it kept moving towards the short grass. It then decided that it was going to go through a gap in the hedge rather than carry on so lived for another day. There were at least 5 occasions where I had the rifle ready, waiting, but either couldn’t get a clear shot or where they had to move a matter of feet for me to be able to but they went the wrong way (not for them!). If it had been a couple of weeks earlier when the grass was shorter it would have been a different story. I lost count of the numbers we saw, there were dozens. I would never have thought that stalking without pulling the trigger could be so much fun. The ‘thrill of the chase’ was fantastic and I can’t wait to go out again. I want to say thank you to Jason for a briiliant day and hope to be back up there again at the first opportunity.
