tinytim38
anyone out there had one of these fail? we have one and it seems that this has failed, on checking it out one google seems like a common failure just wondered if anyone else had suffered the same problem, apparently Toyota did a recall on these but it was kept very quite, certainly changed my opinion of Toyato especialy in light of the recent events with there vehicles,
hogey
i understand dual mass flywheels are prone to failure in many vehicles.i am not a mechanic but i have a shogun and i see by the service history that the flywheel was changed at 34k.it now has 134k on it and touch wood its ok.it tells you in the owners hand book to depress the clutch when starting the engine , i think this will take some of the load off the flywheel.i am sure we will get some more on this topic

beerdeor
We do loads of ddf units there are in reality rubbish .The idea of them is to make take up of drive smoother which I suppose it does till it breaks ,which is a when as apose to if. In the garage we ahce taken to fitting solid flywheel conversions so maybe worth seeing if they make one for your rav hope this helps Jim
