I couldn't get a page link for the item so scroll down about 2/3 of the page
Paddy Galore!
Tell a lie, it was uk gun room where i looked. [just checked browser history] i'll give some of them a call on monday, then saddlery and gunroom. Was just thinking this would be a great tool for squirrels in trees. Paddy Galore!
ooh! just seen a bretton- gaucher phantom, made for the job, open choke though, anyone shoot one of these? anygood?
bicykillgaz
not used one mate, and i like the look of it i actually prefere it to my baikal aesthetically, but the mods meant to be a pain to take appart and apparently there only good for 15-20 yrds max according to reviews i've seen because of the lack of choke. OK for squirrels tho, maybe standing over a burrow?
Daveo26
I spoke to hushpower on this very subject last week! They will fully moderated (which involves chopping down the stock) and reproof a Norica for £250. Iv tried the 9" mod on a baikal .410 and i didnt like it, it cut the noise down well but i could'nt cope with the bulbus end (oh er!) The fully modded baikals are about 7' long try and find a pedretti thats moderated they are the bees knees.

Really fancy a bolt action tho, the bretton with synthetic stock is around £300 new.

What actually " fell to bits " ? .I've spoke to folk who reckon their spot on , i was thinking of getting one myself .
Paddy Galore!
What actually " fell to bits " ? .I've spoke to folk who reckon their spot on , i was thinking of getting one myself . it very nearly opened when i fired it last, took it to gunsmiths and cost me a pretty penny to put right. the moderator had never been stripped since it was new and it broke when we tried to strip it to get the loose shot out. sooty 54
How often does the moderator usually need stripped and cleaned?
Paddy Galore!
How often does the moderator usually need stripped and cleaned? they don't actually need to be cleaned, just opened up to remove the odd bit of shot that gets trapped is always a good idea, and a bit of grease on the threads of the moderator helps so it doesn't sieze up. Yeah i was told not to clean it, the act of unscrewing it to release the shot cleans it enough. I would agree Pedretti are not as tough as a Baikal but what is? Both good guns it just depends whichs suits you.
vole
I would advise keeping an eye on the barrel under the moderator around the holes as I got one with pitting around them. I think the gases are very corrosive as they exit. I got mixed advise from Saddlery and Gunroom about cleaning under the mod( the gunsmith who seems to know most said yes) Most PW users say to remove and clean underneath in past posts. Its easy enough. Edited February 17, 2010 by vole
skinny
im thinking about getting a norica 3 shot and having the barrel fully moderated. would be alot cheaper than bying a mossberg pump.
Paddy Galore!
im thinking about getting a norica 3 shot and having the barrel fully moderated. would be alot cheaper than bying a mossberg pump. the mossbergs are really poor quality items, didn't like them at all. check that the magazine and chamber will take 3" subs tho. just ordered a bretton gaucher phantom £295 all in, with synthetic stock, the timber stock version is £325. t&tj mcavoys are the main distributors, i'll post some pics up when it arrives.thanks niel for the links, much appreciated. skinny
what is the norica like has it got a better build quality than the mossberg's?
Paddy Galore!
I'm not sure about the norica to be honest, but i did have a mossberg hushpower 12g and it wasn't the greatest, also tried a mossberg bolt action [with a view to sending it to hushpower] and that didn't work well at all. typical american budget shotgun IMHO. the norica is spanish, so hoping for more finnesse.
