Bloke
I am looking at a first shotgun, maybe a Miroku MK38 or Browning 525. Trouble is that I am disabled and cannot easily bend to pick up the used cartridges if I miss the tub with the ejectors. Do these (Or any?) guns have the facility to change from ejector to extractor, or am I talking ****, as usual?
soreshoulder
you can get like walking sticks with magnets on the end to pick up empties
Miroku Mike
couple of chaps at my local clay ground use the sticks with magnets, certaintly does the trick for them
Bloke
I'll have a look around for these, cheers chaps
apache
Depends how deep your pockets are! The Beretta Sv10 Prevail shotgun you can turn the ejectors off with a screw http://www.sportinggun.co.uk/guns/317374/B...gun_review.html Just get a gunsmith to disable the ejectors? apache
The Beretta 471 Silver Hawk side-by-side can also turn the ejectors easily on or off http://www.thefield.co.uk/gunreviews/14836...sidebyside.html I found two guns in all of 20 seconds! BigG
What about just removing the spring from the ejector, have a chat with a Gunsmith?
BlaserF3
After opening the top lever, just put your right hand over the breech and when you depress the barrels the empties go into your hand. If everybody did this it would make a lot less work for clay ground owners. Edited February 23, 2010 by BlaserF3

A bit pricer than either the MK38 or 525 though Or if you have a friendly RFD or are confident with the process there is a good guide here which should be the same for a 525. Andy. BlaserF3
That's interesting, but any guarantee with the gun will be null and void. And I think it's a lot easier to just catch them.
Robbly
If you can't catch your shell's for a reason that's not a problem as most ground owners I know wouldn't mind. It's the arrogant pricks that believe picking up empty shells is beneath them..." a job for the trapper" that **** them and me off. So in essence get the gun you want and like... and don't worry about it
Markio
After opening the top lever, just put your right hand over the breech and when you depress the barrels the empties go into your hand. If everybody did this it would make a lot less work for clay ground owners. It's dead easy and becomes second nature, you hand is just a few inches from the breech after you've pulled that top lever so it's easy to get the hang of. Bloke
Cheers, chaps all, thank you I have found and ordered a magnetic pick-up tool and I am going to have to practice 'the cartrige catch'
SidneyG
Im a fellow disabled shooter, I open the gun right close to my body, against my belly, stops them flying out, then pull them out manualy and chuck them in the bin :yp:
Windknot
You can replace the springs in the Browning/ Miroku guns with the mainspring from a 1911-A1: see this thread: http://www.shotgunworld.com/bbs/viewtopic....53&t=145108 Good luck finding a Guv'mint Model mainspring over here, but if you have family or friends in the States they can send you a bunch, and you can trade or sell them. If everybody did this it would make a lot less work for clay ground owners. This is by far the easiest and cheapest way to solve the problem! Just do it for a few shoots and soon it will become habit. I find it difficult NOT to do this now.

HDAV
Its dead easy mate On lessons i have flung carts everywhere, even hit the coach on several occasions. Shooting DTL on Sunday everyone went into my hand and then the bin just open the breach gently and cover with your hand. Job done!
