In the documentation it does say for a single gun a gun clamp or other suitable device may be used but with 2 gun breakdowns going for £50 S/H and 4 gun full for £80 buying something like http://www.chamberlock.com/ seems expensive especially as if you have 2 guns they aren't happy about having 2 clamps. I like the chamberlock and almost bought one for use in the car. The only clamp i can find is this one http://www.micksguns.com/images/cabknoll.jpg which i don't like the look of. VEry much down the FEO i guess

Hi my Dad has applied for a shot gun and had the FAO round tonight when asked about a cabinet he was told didnt need one for just one gun but needed one for two guns ? with one gun he said only needed a cable lock like a bike one ? dont seem right to me any help.

Cabinets specifically are NOT a legal requirement...what is, is SAFE Storage, generally this is accepted to be a Cabinet to BS7558:92.

However>>>>>..........

Home Office Firearms Law Guidance to the Police 2002 (the Bible)

19.28

"When only one rifle or shotgun is held and a low level risk is involved, gun clamps or similar devices or arrangements may be adequate"!!

:good:

Sorry I don't mean to thick.....but if the FAO says you don't need a cabinet ....you don't need one..?

correct but you do need secure storage, which can cost as much as a cabinet and is more limiting....Why spend £60 + to secure one gun when you can secure 4 for the same money (secondhand cabinet)

I agree better to get a cabinet, and if I were u I would get at least a 4 gun one, this hobby is addictive and you can soon fill them up.

Sound words...too many fall into the trap of buying too small, a little bit of future proofing is a good idea!!!

<_<

And if you are looking for a Cabinet I will do my best to help.....
