bruno22rf
How much do people pay for a 5 year test on a tank? I was quoted £55+vat today and told that £15 of that was for a compulsory valve strip/clean/lube.Seems a little pricey to me?

I was quoted £55+vat today and told that £15 of that was for a compulsory valve strip/clean/lube.Seems a little pricey to me? 5 years is a hydro test so sound's about right depending on the area, some are way more expensive if the shop send's them away to be done. Could be cheaper if you travel. But the cost of fuel may offset the savings. I could get a hydro for £35 total last year, but that is probably about as cheap as you get. Nothing compulsory about the valve service, it's an agreed best practice within the cartell (sorry, industry). It's the price you have to pay, or you could buy new , selling the old one before it goes out of test. I currently have a dozen cylinders from 15L down to 1L in the garage, some of them need O2 cleaning as well (for diving) The price of that lot makes you smart a bit Edited February 25, 2010 by moz
