barrie0
During this last couple of weeks , some of the pigeons I have shot have had a fair few feathers missing mostly around the neck area , but I shot one today and from his neck up most of his feathers were missing including his head feathers apart from the odd few, no joke intended but it looked like he had been on chemotherapy , but with seeing some of the birds over the last few weeks as described I am a bit perplexed as to what it is all about . Hendo
The woodpigeons are probably moulting I kept Racing Pigeons years ago and at this time they moulted heavily. Hendo
Highlander
Young birds. I shot one of the youngest birds I've ever seen on the wing about 3 weeks back hardly feathered up on top at all. Reckon it had just taken to the air that morning unlucky b***** B)

henry d
Check out the pics in "wet day..." these are squabs and will probably look like the birds you shot.
henry c
The birds will probably be squabs and adult birds which have finnished nesting and so are moulting their worn plumage into a duller winter plumage.
