rabbit shot

Recommended Posts

It is all well and good putting videos up on Youtube and I know only too well that we all get a few missed shots now and then but maybe it would be better if we only put vids up of clean kills. Some videos where the kills are not quite as clean as they could be will only give the !Antis" something more to find fault with.

On the brighter side, at least you have managed to master getting videos on to Youtube, now you need to learn hopw to embed them on here mate!

what you mean clean kill ? the rabbit was stone dead , just twitching like they do ! and what you mean embed them :(

Ryan, I had worded my post very carefully so as to try not to cause offence, but you obviously have taken it the wrong way.

OK, you say in your reply "The rabbit was stone dead" - If you look at the video it is blatantly obvious that the rabbit is not dead and "Just twitching like they do"! If it were stone dead (as you claim) then why was there a need to try to put a second shot in to it? (The shot that hit the fence). I am perfectly sure that anyone else that watches this video will agree with me that the rabbit that is shot (At what looks like fairly close range) is quite clearly just wounded and is not a clean kill, and if you think otherwise then you really do need to do something to improve on your knowledge of hunting live quarry, particularly learning to tell the difference between something that is just wounded and something that is dead!

Please note that I do not wish to get involved in an argument with you nor do I wish to offend you but I have enough experience to know exactly what I am talking about and what I can see on your video.

As for "Embedding Videos" it is explained on this thread:

I've got to agree. The rabbit may have been dead by the time you got to it, but it is clearly not dead by the end of the clip.

It happens and we all fail to get a 'clean kill' on occasions, so don't be upset about it.

Should have gone to Spec Savers. Firstly for your poor shooting at close range :( . And secondly for saying that the rabbit was dead after the 1st shot. When it was clearerly shot in the back quarters and moved a few times after being shot. And not just twitching as you said :good: . Just remember for the future to embed vids of cleanly shot animals and not wounded. It only gives the Anti's more amunition against our way of life.

Ryan, I hope that we are not going to fall out over this! If you reread my original post you will see that I was "Suggesting" that we only put videos up of clean kills. I even clearly stated that we all get a shot now and then that is not a "clean kill", and I most certainly include myself in that! No where in my posts on this thread have I named you as the shooter, my second post was only addressed to you because it was you who replied by saying (And I quote) what you mean clean kill ? the rabbit was stone dead , just twitching like they do ! and what you mean embed them.

This I took offence at as your statement was questioning my knowledge and experience. - Believe me, I have been involved in this sort of thing for well over 45 years and I can see that the rabbit was most certainly not dead from the first shot, and that is perfectly clear for all to see on the video, but I still did not accuse you of being the shooter, only that it was you that stated that the rabbit was dead!

Let me state quite clearly that I do not have a problem with watching videos or rabbits, foxes or any other "vermin" being shot on "Youtube" and I openly achnowledge that NONE OF US ARE THAT PERFECT THAT WE CAN GUARANTEE A CLEAN KILL EVERY SHOT (Myself included) but, as I SUGGESTED we might be better not putting videos up if the kills are not clean as it will only give fuel to the fires of the Antis!

I have no wish to fall out over something as trivial as this (Or anything else come to that) so please let this be an end to the matter!

I'm with Frenchie here, Once you start shooting an animal, don't stop until it's dead as a doornail, sometimes you don't bag as many as you might but I think a clean kill approach is an important part of hunting, respecting your quarry and minimising suffering.

When it comes to posting things on youtube, or anywhere else for that matter, bear in mind you're "publishing" whatever you post to the world at large.

If we want to keep our sport legal, we should act as good ambassadors for the sport and help people to understand why we do it.

Injuring cute fluffy bunnies from what looks like very close range isn't going to do the sport any favours.

I hope this doesn't upset anyone too much, please don't be offended, yes this thread is in for some criticism but maybe we've got a point?

what a **** shot, you couldnt even put it out of its misery. what a ****

Come on.

A ) The lad was not the one doing the shooting. If you read his post he was the one making the video

B ) We all miss on occations.

And as for your last word, your comments show that it applies more to you than to him

OK everyoone, I think Ryan and Samw have taken enough of this now. It all seems to come from a comment that I put up. In future I shall have to learn to keep quiet. An error of judgement occured in putting the video up on Youtube, everyone accepts that now and I am sure that it will not happen again. The situation has been explained and that really should be an end to it now! There has to be a bit more to life than arguing amongst ourselves and insulting each other on this forum!"
