Birdboy
Last year, i sold my Air Arms S200. I am now back in the market for a .22 air rifle for ratting at my place. Question is - can i buy a springer air rfle with a silencer that is as silent (ish) as a pnuematic ? I really didnt like the faff of the pneumatic and filling it etc (and cost !) , so just looking to see if there is a good springer rifle that is reasonably quiet ? Thanks BB
Ricko
Go classic?? And hone your skills!! BSA Meteor etc?? If i was ratting for pleasure then i would use a .410 shottie if £££ were an issue then a good quality, easy maintained springer is the choice I'll be interested in what the suggestions are!! Cant use a 410 as there are a few other properties close by. A quiet springer would be ideal if there is such a thing. All ideas appreciated BB

christy
My springer is quiet. It's a HW95 with V-Mach internals, barrel profesionally shortened to 11" and a theoben evolution silencer fitted. CS 500 walnut stock. It really is quiet, no cocking sounds just a smooth pull does it. On firing (virtually no recoil) it makes a dull thud is bout best I can say. Hardly audible at 60-70 yds. Silence in this case comes at a price but well worth it I think. Springers benifit from internal tlc, it smoothes out the various clangs. bullet boy
Theoben Gas-Ram guns are excellent and would be quieter than your average Spring gun.It depends on your budget. If moneies are affordable then take a closer look at Theoben. throdgrain
Indeed. My HW90K with a moderator is as quiet as a quite thing.
Colster
At the cheaper end of the spectrum, a friend of mine has a BSA Lightning XL. Just a small whump when fired no springy twang. I was very impressed considering it hadn't been fettled at all.
Birdboy
Thanks Guys I will look at both springers. Thanks BB
chewy0013
I have a HW77 in the for sale section, this is a very quiet rifle. Very smooth, powerful and consistent! If you were intending to buy new I would suggest a HW97 and fit proper baffles to it or get a HW80! Stuart
aaron airgunner
as a general rule, HW make the best guns. but how about co2? crosman rattys can be easily fitted with a silencer and are very cheap.
