camel
Hi all, A quick one for the experts - does a sound moderator need to be on the FAC? I mainly do target shooting and as such have no need for one [moderator]... Thanks.

Target shooters can get one, based on the protection of their hearing, as ear defenders cannot 100% guarantee protection
Silhouette
Yes, with the usual good reason etc.
Dunkield
Interestingly target shooting isn't a good enough reason in some areas, as most people don't use mods on the range the assumption is you will be wearing ear protection anyway - it's mad I know. But yes as stated it needs to be a seperate entry on your FAC, a fact some of members have failed to grasp.

Target shooting as such is not a reason I understand, but if you throw in the words...Health & Safety...I think you will find most regions allow it pretty quick! It's all silly, just what is the issue about having one anyway?? :o
Colster
Might be just me but I thought you were asking do I have to apply for a moderator if I don't want one. If you don't need one then no you don't. They have to be requested separately to the rifle when required but they are not compulsory. Breastman
It's all silly, just what is the issue about having one anyway?? :o Given the governments, most police officers and the general publics understanding of firearms they probably think they have to be controlled because they turn normal firearms into assassin weapons Mark
