Mungler
I don't want to stick a pricey scope on the old girl, so I was wondering if anyone could recommend a reasonably priced scope that would suit the HMR and have good low level light gathering. Maybe an illuminated reticule. The problem is that the scopes I have tried have either been rubbish airgun won't hold a zero or take a knock type, or been a pricey S&B / Swaro / Leopold / Zeiss type. Is there anything in the middle that's any good and not poo? What about Meopta or something from Docter Optics or Pecar or Richter although I reckon they will be too pricey? EDIT: What about Bushnell, Burris and Hawke. I have tried a Burris and a Bushnell and thought they were pretty poor in low light. Paddy Galore!
have you tried or considered Edgar bros optimate range? some good quality glass, very good light transfer qualities, japanese made, shock proof, fog proof, i have a opti42 on my 22/250, fixed 10xmag 42mm objective lense, side focus. So far it's bomb proof, you can pick an optimate scope up for around the £200 mark, and go up to around £425.. Or, weaver, just as good as leupold but half the price. sako751sg
Bought the .17 from a PW member, and it came with the nikko sterling nighteater.Highly impressed, although obviously not up to the top end stuff,i use it with the moonlight and no probs out to 120yards.The nightforce hammers it at first light and last last, but for some reason in moonlight the difference is not that great. Frenchieboy
Don't know if you can buy them or what price they are but I have Sutter 8x56 on my 17HRM and I can not fault it for either daytime shooting or for lamping (Just the red spot in the centre lights up if you want it for lamping). I would love to find another identical scope to go on the .222 that I am getting!
