guest1957
Used them for the first time today. Lovely clean kills and a price I like.
slated
I have some 24 grams for my SBS for clays, very clean for a fibre cartridge. £36 for 250 I believe I paid
guest1957
I paid £36 for 250 28g and for once didn't feel like i'd been robbed.
Dekers
Something must have changed, these were always filthy cartridges, cheap as you could get but tended to go bang most of the time!
guest1957
Well I used 75 Eley today and the gun was pretty clean. After 75 Hull Comp X plaswad it looked like someone had put the barrells over a fire!
jollysp2
I got 250 Eley first lights 21g nice an clean after 100 bird and 35 pound
garjo
Bear with me I'm a newbie here. Justs started using Eley First 24g - might be me but when cleaning barrels there seems a lot more depoites in the barrells than when using plastic - is there something about fibre wad cartidges which means lot more cleaning of barrels or is just this make? George1990
Fibre is often more dirty looking. Some more than others. Don't think dirtiness should be deciding factor when buying cartridges though!
Markio
Yeah they do the job alright, and the plaswads are just as good with even less recoil and a bit cheaper (typical of plaswads though). I see no need to ever get anything else.
Floating Chamber
Eley use two types of cases. The Cheddite have good integrity; alas, the 'other' type (I shall not utter their name) seem to want to part company!!!!
Dekers
As I revisit this topic I still struggle, all my Eley Firsts have been perfectly capable and perfectly acceptable, but were FILTHY...something must have changed, every time you let one go a shower of black confetti comes out of the barrel as well!! The wads now used are from what seems to be uncapped pulped newspaper. The wads before were 'Diana' type with a plastic-leaf capping. The latter would de-laminate as it passed through the choke.
