enzedder
Had a good day last Thursday. Targetted an old barley stubble for the morning flight. Was set up by 8.00am and the first birds arrived 8.24am. Had good cover in a patch of high stubble surrounding a water hydrant for the irrigation. The paddock is right next to a new sub-division so I had to be careful which direction I was shooting so that I didn't land any spent pellets on roofs. The birds decoyed well with a tally of 43 in about an hours shooting. Packed up & spent a couple hours in the office before heading for the high country in search of wild pigs with three other mates. We spread out to cover the country & one of the mates bumped into a small mob of pigs in the scrub. His dog latched onto a nice sized eating pig (about 50 lb gutted weight) which was quickly dispatched. Nothing else seemed to be around so we headed for home.
