white fox
YP I've not used Power tools UK, but have recently used www.tooled-up.com they seem OK. Couple of years ago I bought a Hitachi 24v SDS hammer drill, it's the best I have owned, cost over £300 though. Dewalt is a good make. Hammergun
Remember if you buy from abroad the voltages may be different and some stuff won't work here. I get all my stuff from www.cromwell.co.uk Personally I prefer Makita stuff as I think it's far superior to Dewalt (Dewalt is essentially Black and Decker stuff). Also beware, if you're doing a lot of drilling, are you sure you need 18volt? They are very heavy to use for prolonged periods of time. Axe
I have a Dewalt 24v SDS Drill, its the poodles plums and will go through anything like butter. But, leave the batteries in and they loose charge, a magor defect for a battery tool wouldnt you say. A mnate of mine works in tool hire and knows a bit about tool. As he explained, Dewalt tools are well built and designed for tough jobs unlike house brands such as B&D that would have plastic bearings instead of metal. But in all, you pay for what you get, standard B&D is for DIY but get the trade B&D equipment and you'll get a better tool indeed. Dewalt has always been for the trade, so offers good performance. But its horses for courses, as my good friend would say, DeWalt are good at one thing, Hitachi another, Makita another, and so on. plexer
I have a small 7.2v Makita battery drill and it's the best battery drill I've ever had, not a hammer drill but used it to put plenty of pictures up in it's time. Have also had cheapy 18v ones and they are not worth the money. You definately want to go for a trade orientated drill so dewalt is the main choice of a lot of people for good reason but I would buy makita personally. SNAKEBITE
It doesn't matter what it is I can still destroy my house when it comes to DIY!
