jimmyb79
Hi all, Just starting out in Pigeon shooting, and I'm beginning to collect the basic kit I need. Took delivery of some stealth camo netting, a 75litre decoy bag and some hide poles yesterday from a web-based decoying company and when I got the poles out of the packaging, each one of the plastic hooks at the top was broken. These are the green aluminum type poles with kick plates and I'm obviously a bit ****** off that they sent them in that condition, but I was wondering how important those hooks are? I've seen other poles with just a v-shape top to them and am thinking that providing the netting can grip onto the poles somehow, its not too much of a problem. The poles are going back to the company regardless even it if its just out of principle, but grateful for guidance on this, as I'm sure the hooks will break off the replacements in due course! ATB JB I have the same problem. I spoke to the company (in Wigan) on Friday and was asked to ring mail order manager on Monday who will sort out the problem. I suspect they will send through replacement tops which are held in by small screws. Will let you know how I get on.

Ah, replacement tops would be far better - save sending a 1m long box back to the company! I think this might be the same company!

Mate if you need any more poles go to Wilkinson's and buy some line poles, same poles just a fraction of the cost, £2.99 each i think.... Cranfield
I bought some of these hide poles with the curved hook top (from a different Supplier) and the first thing I did was hacksaw the curved part off, leaving just the "V" shape. They still hold the nets firmly in gale force winds, I could just see those hooks being too fiddly when my fingers were cold.

bennyblanco
How long did the poles take to come in the 1st place? I ordered some eight days ago and have not even had a confirmation email, when I rang last friday I was told the stock would not even arrive to them until monday and would be posted asap. Still nothing. Wish I had bought from the site sponsors rather than try and save a tenner I didn't read all the small print about orders taking up to 28 days as the big red banner scrolling across the screen proclaimed "plenty in stock for next day delivery"
hamster123
i had the same problem i ordered terminators bouncers and the pigeons came two weeks later with no poles to attatch them to after numerous phone calls they came a further two weeks after that ..... **** service ..**** company am i allowed to name them.... jimmyb79
My poles actually came really quickly. I got them about 3 days after ordering, but sadly haven't used them for three weeks whilst awaiting replacement tops. Roll on Saturday for their first outing! I'd get in touch with them about that order. If it was me and it was genuinely going to take 28 days, I'd cancel and go elsewhere.
bennyblanco
Phoned them today and got "we are expecting stock on Tuesday and will post them after that" Which was exactly what I was told seven days ago, I have cancelled the order and got some from Shootwarehouse which should be here on Tuesday. No pole bag for the same money but at least I have some confidence that I might receive them next week.

jimmyb79
I have cancelled the order and got some from Shootwarehouse Probably the best move. To be honest, I haven't got the greatest confidence in the poles I've received, and am not convinced they'll last more than a few outings...which will be irritating as they're just as pricey as some of the more recommended ones. jimmyb79
Are they the same poles as these Not exactly. The kick plate at the bottom looks quite different (and feels quite loose) but aside from that they look fairly similar.
chrispti
I was going to say (if yours were the same) not to worry as Iv had mine over 2 years now and have been used allot. They are still in very good condition and working well In fact 99% of my decoying gear, flappers, rotary, bouncers, dead bird cradles etc, are all over 2 years old now and all of it has been well used and abused. Not one thing has ever broken or refused to work. All of it still works as good as it did the day I bought it Edited May 15, 2010 by chrispti
bennyblanco
Received the Ukshootwarehouse poles and net next working day and they are nice and solid, still no refund from the wigan based firm. Its a shame as I always though of them as one of the better dealers online
