First Late Afternoon on the peas

i thought i would share with you a couple of pics taken this evening, after spending 4hrs on the peas.i had to move from my first good spot at the opposite end of field due to high winds blowing the sandy soil in my face. so i got my self in a ditch with a low hedge behind me and a low camo net in front. to my right approx 500 to 600 yds to my right was a busy road so shooting in that direction was a bit of a no no, as some birds even when hits had the potenial to glide into the road on their crash to ground.the pigeons were coming in in nice groups of 10 to 15 every sort of 10 mins or so and when they did come they came in dam quick on the wind, like rockets. it stayed pretty much like that and got better when i could hear anoth shooter in the rape field to the back of me, who seemed to scare more than he hit which was good for me as i could see them coming through the hedge, i found them quite good upward shots ( dont know what the term is for this sort of shot) fast and high.then at 6pm all hell broke loose, they came in from all directions at the same time, i had to keep going out into the field to remove the dead ones every min or so it was like a war zone at one point. i was being to loose count of what i had hit but rather than go silly my last count was 31 pigeon, 1 crow def downed and aleast 10 or more that managed to still keep on going but i came across two more downed ones on my the long trek back to the car.this quick flurry lasted from 6pm till 6.45pm, the it went quiet and my thirst was getting the better of me as i had left my bottled drink at home in the rush to get in the field. so i called it a day. as i have only been shooting approx 12months and my first real chance to use my recent purchase of a beretta urika auto, i think i am getting the hang of it. i know i missed some real silly ones and i wondered how the hell did i miss that? i hit dam awkward ones and miss ones i could have lobbed a brick at. i know one came straight at me about 5ft of the ground and it nearly caught me un awares, but i nailed it, and i am sure i saw the whites of its eyes it was that close and there was not much left of it when it hit the ground 2ft infront of me. anyway i was happy and its all good pratice and a learning curve for me. ps i did not relize 31 ish pigeon could be so heavy when it comes to carrying them of the field.

anyway heres the two pics i took sorry for quality took them with phone camera

regards

good day out :stupid: dont want to come across as the expert :yay: but your shot wont carry 500 yards at most 350 and the upwards shots you mentioned are driven or overhead targets and we all miss and hit birds that fly on and 31 is a good bag any day of the week :P
