Goldfinger
Got some new permission to shoot on a field of peas about 1" in growth, the birds were decoying well but on examination of there crops we found that they were feeding on what looked like hawthorn buds and a couple of birds were crammed full of wheat,it was surprising to us that the pigeons were not paying much attention to the pea field. Apart from sowing time do the birds pay much attention to growing peas.

As a norm they do but i have over 13 fields and they have only just started to hit them and there 5 inches high . Ive always shot good bags off peas and got my pb on peas 3 years ago and dont think i will ever get anywhere near it ever again . Keep watching them they will find them soon ! Cranfield
Last year I had a few big bags on chitting peas, but this year they are leaving them alone for some reason. Hopefully things will improve when the flower appears.

the hitman
The feeding pattern in my area seems to be , winter rape , then spring drillings , then back to winter rape where they can land on bare patches. They will stay there until mid to late may, then they start on peas or spring rape.
