andrewjames
hi guys, i dont really know the ins and outs of getting a silencer made, i have had bolts made for my air rifle but nothing on this scale. is one allowed to have such equpiment made? or is it illegal? its for an air rifle which is below the 12ftlb limit. "i dont own a firearm and dont intend to use the silencer for one either) as you may see in the design it wouldnt work for a firearm. id also like to say its based on that of the wierauch silencer design, using hair curlers and baffles with scotch brite / felt padding as the interior. heres the design... for anyone who may be interested, maybe you can spot a flaw in the design or contribute to the design itself. how much would i expect to pay for something like this to be made? SSS
Maybe if the baffles were tilted more towards the muzzle it may be more effective? Just a thought Dont know how you would go about getting one made though, sorry.
Loki
Hiya As far as I am aware it shouldnt be a problem if its for an off the shelf air-rifle - I'm sure more learned Gentlemen will advise further... A local precision engineering firm/machine shop will be able to sort it out for you from your drawings. However, cost is likely to be based on a per hour basis which may not be financially viable. Suggest you ask around if friends/family know someone or the like working in one - local colleges have lathes etc so it might be worth asking around there if someone can sort it out over a couple of lunchtimes...... Clubshot
Nothing Illegal as Long as Face To Face Under VCR Bill , have to be done on a Face - Face basis and listed in a VCR Register Which killed many custom Silencer Makers ......... Just a thought Dont know how you would go about getting one made though, sorry. ive found that real firearm silencers seem to have the baffles pressed into a cone type shape, can say i know if slanting them will make a difference but i could always get some more baffles knocked up and give it a try. John_R
Why 8 baffles at 7mm? I am planning to make my own custom mod as well some time this year. Mine will be a reflex style purpose built for my FX Verminator, so it adds as little to the already short barrel as possible.

John_R
A reflex mod has the threaded bush set well into its length, with some of the baffles actually behind the muzzle, so in theory you end up with as much silencing but with less additional length (if that makes sense). As for baffles, the conical shapes on a centre fire mod will usually be turned as opposed to pressed. That is what I'll be doing when I get round to it, as I have a lathe but no press, but also I can make the baffle quite structural that way. jenky
ill be trying something like this soon mate, were are you located? i only have a little home workshop but got a lathe and the bits i need. im on converting a theoben E type to .25 cal at the moment and making a carbon fiber shroud for the barrel. should have enough carbon fiber left over for a few silencer designs to mess around with at a later date.
