955i
Just interested in how much people would expect shotguns to be second-hand as opposed to new? Taking mine as an example, they are around £1000 new and mine has a couple of minor marks on the woodwork but is otherwise in good order, what would you expect to be a reasonable second-hand price? J@mes
depends what make model and spec it is I guess. For the "better" makes (beretta browning miroku) I'd expect to pay 3/4 of the new price for a second hand one, for bettinsoli, lanber, lincoln etc then 2/5-1/2 of the new value. 955i
OK, well mine is a Winchester Select Sporting (can't seem to find one the same as mine anywhere though )
Dekers
With newer guns you are going to lose money if you trade them, as the gun gets older, inflation takes its toll and prices increase anyway, you are likely to get back close to what you actually paid for it, as long as its a reasonable make and you keep it in good condition! My Beretta 303 was bought new in 1989 and used as PX for a rifle in 2007, I got back almost exactly what I originally paid for it!
Ricko
Mmmm, a bit like anything that is bought new. Buy it new and pay top price but have security of warranty Buy it secondhand and pay a lower price but 'Caveat Emptor' (Buyer beware) (If you you know the item, then you have knowledge of its condition)
b325
There are a few on gun trader second hand £650-£775 .New price on there is £920 .Guess it all depends on the condition .
gibby
How long have you had the Select for? The select was my first shotgun and I paid £750 for it in 2003. In 2006 I wanted to upgrade so purchased a Beretta, the Select was then sold to my local clay ground for instruction, £450 if I remember correctly. I had undervalued it but just wanted shot of the thing. My 682 Gold E was £1425 cash, in '06 new, and due to the falling euro they have shot up in price, so if you bought the Select at the right time, ie when the pound/dollar (if they're made in US?) was still good, you could probably expect similar levels to what you paid, if it's a few years old. 955i
How long have you had the Select for? Had it since the beginning of last year, not really looking to get rid at the moment. Was just something I was thinking about and used mine as an example.
