Vince Green
Its a BSA Martini. Used to be the standard .22 target rifle. The rack on the RH side was a common mod fitted to hold the ammo. Its a bit hard to age it because they made them for so long but I would say 1950s for that one . It has the heavier target barrel and the style of the woodwork varied over the years. Edited May 20, 2010 by Vince Green

Norrie
You find it in a bush? Thanks guys for the replies....LOL, In a Bush....not quite, but almost. ..found it I did, in a wrecked cottage on one of my permissions....I was having a "look around" after a rabbit as you do, and saw the top end of the barrel sticking out from under some rubble...been there for ever I think...but left it lying ( Re Hidden ) as I wasnt sure about the legalities of taking it home....I've not got my FAC yet, and didnt want to jeapordise that... Its seized absolutely solid...and will ( I think ) never work again..
Imperfection
Shame to see an old gun in such a bad way.I'd try to remove the wood and soak the iron in motor oil for a week then try to unseize it.The chances of it ever firing again are slim, but its a slice of history! Norrie
I'd love to go and get it right now..which I could no problem..would only take a few mins....but, would'nt it still be an unlicenced firearm?? Therefore, years in jail...and dont pass go!!

Vince Green
Its still a section 1 firearm condition makes no difference. Put it back where you found it and call the police to come and get it. Do not take it home and do not take it to a police station yourself.
COACH
I`m with Vince on this one. Take it back and call the police. There has been similar in the press lately about a man finding a gun and took it to the police after removing it and then got done for not having a F.A.C. poor devil. Hiya, Thats exactly what I was worried about guys, and thats why I reburied it under a ton of rubble.....it hasnt been moved from where I found it, and from where it's lain for maybe up to 40 odd years... I read that article too, most worrying..
