Sorry to Hijack this thread but I thought this was my best chance of getting some info on shotgun cartridge reloading.

I am looking for just one reload recipe using only UK sourced materials of which I have a good range of components.

I want to load some 12 bore cartridges into 2-3/4" parallel tube cases with 1-1/4 oz of No 5 lead shot.

There are a good number of recipes around but I am specifically looking for one that will produce close on 11000psi pressure.

thanks :hmm:

whats the idea of going for a 11,000psi load? the only reason i can think of is your shooting in sub zero temperatures, and you need a "hot" load.

i`m not "dissing" the load, just wondered as to why the criteria, most look for the fastest load, ithers look for low pressure.

why 11,000? are you running an automatic? feed issues?

what speed do you want?

you realise high pressure loads dont always equil high speed?

if you give us you total criteria,

i`m very unsure as to the speed MCs cartridge is at. it could be anywhere from 10fps to 10000fps? it doesnt say.

i`m not sure, but MC wouldnt give you duff data.

1,1/4oz of 5s are a mean cartridge, what is the target?

FYI

most if not all cases in the uk, are paralelle tube, if you have some american data, then the hulls you want are the "Fiocci" "multi hull" "cheddite" "hull cartridge" often these are called "eurotrash". often they are called high capacity, or low basewad. because we cant get 10 or so reloads out of them they are well cheap to buy unprimed £2-3 200.

if you look on all the data for these key cases, then you have the start on what to look for.

i`ve loaded some high capacity cases with alot of slow bulky powder, i ended up roll turning the hull, there was 1/8" or so left. stick to the recipes guys.
