It's rumoured that Europe want to do away with the February shooting of wildfowl on the foreshore.

It's rumoured that Europe want to stop shooting at night, maybe just wildfowl.

It's rumoured that the BASC chairman is not minded to used resources to fight these moves.

Coming from N.Ireland we don't have the choice to shoot at night/moonlight and our season ends in Jan. We are currently trying to get that changed as far as I am aware. From what I gather the Joint Council for Strangford Lough have raised this issue with BASC and the wetlands trust, but if what you are saying is correct then it will be in vain.

I'm afraid you've got the wrong end of the stick here!

Those scenario's are not rumours leaked from BASC or anywhere else, they were potential situations used during a debate by two members on the BASC WLC.

The February season and moon shooting are at no more of a threat now than they were last year or the year before.

It's the reaction of the chairman to these scenario's that has ignited such an outcry on the Wildfowling Forum.

Mark.

We are not aware of any threat to February shooting or moonflighting from either the UK Government or the European Union. As far as we are concerned the statutory future for wildfowling is excellent and we would be hard put to identify any serious threats at present.

If there was any threat in the future we would fight it tooth and nail.
