A bit morbid, but something we have to think of sooner or later :P

Does anyone know what provisions can be made for your guns when you "throw a double six"

Shotguns can obviously go to anyone named with an SGC but what about firearms?

If you leave them to a friend or relative how does it work with spare slots on their ticket etc?

my dad has a condition i believe on his will which says that i will get all of the firearms as long as i hold a certificate when he passes. i havent been told anymore than this.

i believe there is a few weeks (not sure of exact number) where the relatives can keep the guns untill they can be sold.

its a very messy buisness, and i would imagine alot of people just ignore it and the guns get taken by plod when the ticket comes up for renewal.

i am friends with an RFD and he gets lots and lots of people who give him guns, becuase they dont want to deal with the gunshops and just want rid of the guns.

he either keeps them if they are of value or has them destroyed.

An old friend of mine died in his sleep back in 1996, and although he had made provision for someone to take his guns until the will was read out and sorted, this still didn’t stop the police taking them first. Not too bad you may think, but I tell you it was absolutely appalling.

The police arrived in a secure van and went into the house where they were shown where the old gent kept his keys (no problems in those days).

They then opened up his cabinet, placed all the rifles, shotguns and pistols in a large sack, and then literally dragged the lot down the stairs. They were remonstrated with to show some bloody care as some of the shotguns were very expensive and had been bequeathed to people, but it made little difference to the moron that was carrying them and he just bunged them in the back of the van. I dread to think how they were treated once they arrived at Lloyd house.

If you do make any provision for your guns, then for gawds sake make sure that the person concerned gets to them before the police do, otherwise he will be fighting for compensation to get them repaired before he can use them. And no doubt the answer will be-

“They were already dented when we picked them up”.

The rottie and I done the will thing a few years ago. I wrote it up to have the guns to my local clay ground (free as i am a member) while estate was sorted out. Neighbours and friends are all aware and will remove guns in the event of my death (no chance as i have sold my soul) as the ***** from the factory will ****** up the guns, re Gemini's post.

If you aint done a will you are a stupid **** :<
