Frenchieboy
Several of my permissions are littered with crow which I would like to "thin out a little"! I will admit that i have only limited experience in crow shooting and up till now have only taken Opportunist shots at them. While out yesterday after I had shot one I set it up on a dung heap in the corner of a field and was surprised at how many crows came in to mob it! (I assume that this was because of the fact that crows are quite territorial). This got me wondering and looking on fleabay at these "Decoy Crows with a built in Crow Caller" but before I go and buy one is there anyone out there that has tried them and if so can they tell me if they are worth the money or not, or would I be better spending the same amount of money on say 4 decoy crows and a hand held caller? Shotgunspud
Morning, The best one I have used is the Ucaller with crow decoys works a treat, or try an Owl or any bird of pray decoy over the top off a dead magpie or crow works very well. I know of people using stuffed fox decoys but never tried that??? I have used the crow caller you are talking about, not bad but the Ucaller is the way forward I think… Hope this helps
Cranfield
I have no experience of these decoys, but I thought it was illegal to use "recorded" bird calls to decoy birds for shooting purposes. I suppose you can always take a photograph and then shoot them.
Frenchieboy
That's a great help thanks Shotgunspud, thanks! I have no experience of these decoys, but I thought it was illegal to use "recorded" bird calls to decoy birds for shooting purposes. I suppose you can always take a photograph and then shoot them. That's not a problem Cranfield my friend, I can alway have a video camera set up on a tripod to film them "mobbing" with a shotgun for "afters"! steve_b_wales
Have you tried the Primos Poer Crow Call? When used correctly, it's brilliant.
THEINVISIBLESCARECROW
Shiney but I've heard they have a dull one out now. They sound ok. Set yourself up where you normally see them or bait them. The Cawlin Crow certainly sounds good.
