soreshoulder
is the chamber length for after the shell has been fired or before, im confused?
Windknot
Yes. And 67mm cases- see the cartridge box for more info. But not 70mm cartridges, even though they will chamber in your gun.
Jega
Chamber / cartridge length is ALWAYS after firing size. The shot /blast comes out of a spent cartridge into the chamber therefore if it discharged short i.e. 3"cartridge in a 2 3/4" chamber the discharge would take place in the barells and cause catastrophic damage. What does the barrel say, and what pressure is it tested for..nobody has asked what gun you have yet, but the odds are you are ok...more info and you will get a specific answer from someone! SSS
65mm will be fine in a 2 1/2" gun, dont go any bigger though

Yep and a 2 1/2" chambered gun is quite possibly oldish and probably (if British) proofed for a 1 1/8oz load. Cheers
